i don't give a hoot about pvp, but this just looks like a fun skillAkbaroth 01:56, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

If you don't give a hoot about PvP then it doesn't make sense to comment on a PvP change, now, does it? Dark Morphon 13:17, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
I like the idea. Although I see it as a quick semi-Aegis / Reversal of Damage thing. :/ I like how you came up with the idea though. Mirror, Ice. Clever. :) Than 00:06, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
It's not that he had to come up with much, this is practically a slightly better version of the original function, on the other hand i don't know if ele's should have a buff that can target other allies directly...just doesn't seem to fit the class in my opinion. So, people will just revert to SS, WT or IS. Big deal. It's like giving eles an elite that heals themselves. Pika Fan 00:09, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

How about: "Hex Spell. Target foe moves 66% slower (1-7 seconds). The next time that foe casts a hostile spell, that foe takes X damage instead.", more useful? Dark Morphon 11:40, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Useful, Monk-destructive. Recharge, casting and energy cost still the same? Than 04:39, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
And pray tell, how is it "Monk-destructive"? Really, you got to start paying attention to what people say:"The next time that foe casts a hostile spell". @DM That is actually much closer to what an ele is like - just remember that it's effect is stronger than shackles and therefore the recharge and energy has to be modified accordingly. Pika Fan 14:06, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I especially like it because it is still good at stopping casters while indeed giving it more of an Elementalist role. Concerning the stats, Icy Shackles potentially has a 90% snare. I don't know how much more useful that is than a 66% one (it seems to me that 66% is already so much that 90% won't add very much difference) so uhm, would

15 Energy1 Activation time8 Recharge time be about right? Dark Morphon 15:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I personally dislike elementalists having a permanent or close-to-permanent snare(for that same reason, I would go ahead to create suggestion pages to nerf the recharge on freezing gust, if only I wasn't lazy) even if it is elite. I think 15 recharge would work right, or you hit the recharge to that of diversion, split the effect (something like, for 1-6 seconds, target is 66% snared. Additionally, for 6 seconds, the next time target foe casts a hostile spell, that foe takes X damage instead). Eles should have to commit 2-3 skills on their bar to perma snare anything, if at all. Pika Fan 22:57, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
By splitting the effect do you mean that when the hostile spell conditional triggers the snare still continues? I don't know whether that's possible. If the recharge is going to be 15 seconds I assume 10 energy and 1 cast is fine? Dark Morphon 16:35, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes. I am sure GW is able to program something like that, just need to set something like
while(mirrorOfIce == 1)
{
movement = movement * 0.33;
int i = 1;
if(cast a spell that targets a foe)
{
if(i == 1)
{
i = 0;
spell fails;
health = health - x;
}
}
}
or similar :P. 10-15 energy and 1 cast should be fine. Pika Fan 17:26, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, it should be easy to program, it's just that I haven't seen a skill that works like that before. At any rate, I'll suggest it. I don't expect Anet to seriously consider these suggestions anyway, the skill is balanced the way we worked it out and that's all we can do. Dark Morphon 13:17, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
imo:

5 Energy¼ Activation time8 Recharge time Elite Enchantment Spell. (5 seconds). Remove a Water Magic hex from target foe. Your next 0...2...2 Water Magic spells that target foes apply that hex to their targets.

Needs some tweaks, but I like the concept. :> User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 17:18, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
