Feedback talk:User/Darkshine/No ammunition in GW2
As I understand it, there will be no ammunition for weapons in GW2, either. There has been a hint in a developer panel discussion that the firearms in GW2 do not have what we would consider conventional ammunition (bullets). However, they weren't forthcoming with any additional information. My guess is the firearms of GW2 are semi-magical and their "ammunition" is really a form of energy that is being tapped into by the gun and transformed into a projectile (and thus limitless). Ghost bullets, if you will. But that's just my own speculation. When in doubt, just say, "It comes from the Mists!" Guild Wars 3 perhaps 01:36, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- That was what I had tought, but I just couldn't be sure... Darkshine 21:47, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
I agree with above. In addition, Rangers are equally competent with other weapons (their first 5 skills change when they switch weapons), so if your bow gets disabled somehow it won't be the end of the world.

I was talking in general with other games. Like DDO. Darkshine 02:20, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
Sorry but I really disagree with this idea... I really like some kind of realistic games (like the old "the dark eye" and D&D games) and I also missed the quiver on ranger chest-armors in GW1, I would be very stylish in my opinion. If you equip a bow, a quiver in the same color and style of your armor will appear. A Stack up to 2500 Arrows (enchant your quiver by a crafter) is way enough to please all wishes I guess. Also useful for merchants/crafters in comming GW2, the possibility to create better arrows when try out more expensive materials. (iron + wood + feathers) may create arrows, (wood + iron + in alcohol soaked bolt of cloth + feathers) = burning/elemental arrows (possibility to burn in a firewall), (silvari wood + deldrimor steel + tengu feathers) = armor penetrating/chainbreaker arrows... Also you may find arrows/bullets as drop from monsters, maybe a small amount is ensured for bow/pistol wielding classes --Kali Shin Shivara 02:43, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- Exactly Kali, don't be lazy, you got a long ranged weapon that keeps you out of the fight for the most part, so don't complain when you actually have to get in there and do something when you run out of ammo. Perhaps they can make some kind of crafting skill or item you can get that helps you craft ammo out in the field using small amounts of materials you find laying around or in drops. Also, as Kali mentioned, have baddies drop ammo sometimes so if you are in a pinch you can grab them on the fly and keep shooting. I guess my words are futile at this point however, as they already stated there will be no ammo, but its food for thought for down the road sometime maybe. - Sorry, but this is where I have to disagree with both of you. A large poriton of the changes that ANet made is because they wanted play to be fun (of course I'm not trying to put words in the mouths of ANet staff because that would be unsanitary). And I make Rangers to do exactly that: be ranged. It sucks when you run out of arrows/bullets when you want your character to be that way.
- I think that using crafting to make magical ammunition would be different. Players would have as much magical ammo as they make, but they would have an infinite amount of just regular, bland ammo to shoot (i.e. Legolas' quiver of infite arrows. Now comes in bullets!). However, regarding this qoute Kali, > "(wood + iron + in alcohol soaked bolt of cloth + feathers) = burning/elemental arrows (possibility to burn in a firewall)" I believe that regular arrows and bullets were supposed to light on fire when shot through a firewall, not just magic-y ammo.
- I do like the appearence of quivers though (could have a setting where you could have it on their back or on their hip).
- Even though I like not having ammo Nay, where was it stated that they had decided to have no ammo? I didn't think they were at the stage of absolutes yet... Just wondering. Darkshine 23:38, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- I like your idea, yeah magical ammo would be ideal. And I'll see if I can find some links about the ammo for you. It might have been in one of the obscure videos so few people have seen. There's so much info out there for GW2 we just need to hunt it down...but i digress. Good response and I like your idea. Nay the One and Only 05:08, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Here is an idea on my part to satisfy both sides: Having special limited ammunition types to grant more powerful attacks that can be swapped with the normal infinite ammunition. With this you can attack normally without having to worry about ammo or swap to a more powerful attack type that consume a form of ammunition (like jagged arrowheads or tracer rounds). - K, just link those vids if/when you find them Nay. I thought that having both kinds of ammo was what I said... Oh well, it was what I meant, and I would prefer it that way too. Darkshine 21:19, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Arenanet as said that there will be no ammo, the above discussion is moot. Having an ammo requirement for ranged weapons/professions punishes those plaers, while spellcster/melee are not.--Will Greyhawk 02:14, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Well what did you mean then? Your post says that having limited ammo punishes ranged classes (which I agree with), but we were saying that it would be cool if you could craft magical ammunition to supplement your infinite, albiet regular ammo. Darkshine 21:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
You obviously didn't read the more recent posts very well (don't worry, I do that all the time). Our latest discussion was having magical ammo that was crafted by players, which would be limited, and then there would be an infinite amount of non-magical ammo. Darkshine 12:45, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- Where has that been posted?--Will Greyhawk 07:13, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Damysticreaper's one and only post (which is two posts above your origional), then confirmed by me on the line below it. Darkshine 21:57, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
