Feedback talk:User/Erasculio/Pay-to-play Official Forum

As intelligent as you've thought this out, and I do applaud that, a community needs to be transparent and open. There should be no pay wall between the Anet team and its players. Staff already enjoy posting on forums, Twitter, Facebook and of course right here at the wiki. There shouldn't be any reason for this pay-to-play forum, because communication and feedback should never have a cost associated with it. I can understand the model you are trying to create, but like newspapers, this is not a good business model. All of the information on this forum would be found elsewhere, for free. However, if Arena Net were to make a forum for Guild Wars, they could always cover it in ads. That is how many websites make money, maybe Arena Net could get ads for their forum, just by telling people how many players they're expecting to get on it. Arcdash 22:50, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
I wholeheartedly expect if they ever made this pay to play half if not more of their fanbase will disappear, myself included. Anet chose to make this free, they know what they are doing. And they make plenty of money on their other pay to play games. Its called a business model. This game provides an enriching game experience and builds a loyal customer base. Aforementioned loyal customers then eventually branch out to their other products, or at the very least spread word about them. In comes the revenue from the pay to play games. Think I'm wrong? I have seen it firsthand with people I have introduced to this game. I myself am ordering a few of them next week in fact. "I wholeheartedly expect if they ever made this pay to play half if not more of their fanbase will disappear, myself included." Seconded. "communication and feedback should never have a cost associated with it." And Seconded. They do have a working business model, or the game would be closing because they wouldn't have cash to keep it floating. And/or the company would have collapsed. It is nice of you to think of them, but have no doubts that a company will take all of these things into consideration long before any concept art is ever drawn, game engines written, and mechanics considered. Anet included. 75.250.178.163 05:45, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
