Feedback talk:User/Hong/Xunlai noticeboard

It wouldn't work, IMO, as people would continue spamming. A noticeboard would only be seen by those who actually stop to look at the noticeboard, while spamming in chat would lead to everyone in that district reading what you have to say (more or less like the party find window today), and it would be easier to trade from an outpost than to read the noticeboard, whisper the person you want to buy something from and then go meet that person when he/she is available. Unless the noticeboard had a very strong advantage over spamming (in other words, it worked as a trade house, not only as a place in which people read stuff), I doubt it would be used often at all. - I agree with Erasculio. It wouldn't help the sales and other things, because so many would ignore the board. It'd be one more aggravation to so many to use and you'd probably still have the same amount of repeats as you usually do in hot spots. I just can't see it working. - This is a bit pessimistic. By your logic, people should be spamming trade chat in the open channel, because more people will have that open than the trade one; but AFAICT most people do put their advertising where it's supposed to go. The bulk of trade ads is in the correct place, despite people being able to ignore it.
- Yes, it would depend on making sure people use the noticeboard, but that shouldn't be too hard: closing down the trade chat channel, for starters, should help. Naturally, you would have to make sure everyone is aware that the noticeboard exists, so the transition would have to be gradual. Once it's in place, though, you can just rely on the usual methods of enforcement: banning if people keep spamming in inappropriate places, other players flaming the spammers, etc. -- Hong 16:24, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Wouldn't be fair to those who didn't know, Hong. And I can't even see the transition working nor the reason for any punishment. They would have a lot of complaints. I like other Current Suggestions on here for the dealings with Guild Advertisements as well as runners, etc. Not to mention with the check box already available to turn off trade if needed and things. I only see this as a hassle, not a helping partner. Ariyen 18:31, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- To me this sounds like party search combined with xunlai market (not a negative comment), and Hong was that comment directed at me? If so my logic says all run/recruiting goes in either trade or an entirely new channel seperated from all C4K3 Talk 13:41, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- The noticeboards in my nwn module work exactly like in this suggestion, and they apply a 2 minute "ban period" after you make a post to prevent spamming. ~Shard 18:21, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
