Not sure about this one. If we're being forced (more or less) to rely on the portal/waypoint/gate system for long-distance travel, then it's not really a challenge. It's just an everyday occurence, so why reward it? And with the added detraction of permitting it to be farmed by 'bots. I realize you attempted to address this concern by stating that the reward should be less than the cumulative cost of using the waypoints in the first place. But for a 'bot farmer for whom in-game gold is as common as the grass, this doesn't represent a deterrant.

Maybe we need to change the paradigm of looking at the larger game world as something that is boring and to get through it as fast as possible. Maybe we need to think outside the box and make the world something to get into, instead. Guild Wars 3 perhaps 03:14, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- As far as the bots farming it, we would want to make sure that any rewards available are not worth as much as you put into them, and so I am assuming that what you are referring to here is farming the minis/weapons. What I meant by semi rare, is that they will not be too valuable, and there will be other, easier ways to get them. There could even be some sort of limit like you can only map 3 times every 10 minutes.
- It isn't to reward using the map system, it is so that every time I realize that, oh, I want to be over here instead, I don't have to travel over the same landscapes fighting the same monsters for the 1000th time, I can just use the waypoints, and rationalize, that at least I am putting money towards my next little prize.
- If gw2 can make it interesting enough that I enjoy doing the same thing for the 1000th time, the by all means; that will be the best way. However, anyone that has ever played runescape will know that it gets really boring, really fast (though it will take longer with how awesome GW2 will be). - I don't get it, why? Waypoints costing money is meant to be a gold sink. And what does having to pay money have to do with OCD? Why would Arenanet punish people for taking more time to walk/run to they're destination instead? I'm sorry, this doesn't make any sense, and I don't see it being included at release.--Will Greyhawk 22:10, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
If you seriously have OCD, dude, I'm sorry for you, but this isn't a good idea regardless.
If you don't have OCD, then you're just gonna have to learn to live with it. It's part of the little cost/benefit analysis everyone does all the time.
