Utilization[edit]

I think the idea isn't a bad one, i also already thought of that for GW1 when Lockpicks weren't introduced yet. A storage bag for a certain sort of items is in my opinion in general an interesting idea that is likely doable without too much effort. But if we're having Lockpicks in GW2 too i don't think it will find much use among players, though. &mdash

I thought of the same thing, but then again, why would you want to use an expensive lockpick over a relatively cheap key ? (chance to retain?) This is a valid point you make. Perhaps lockpicks would only remain as HM chests. Wait... will there even be a HM in gw2 ? :O

Anyway, to recap: Lockpicks would become obsolete. However, this raises another question; what if you don't want to go to the merchant and buy a new set of keys every time you come into a new area? That's not really a big deal, you will always come to a merchant that sells a key for a certain chest before you get to the chest itself. Maybe here's where lockpicks come in... They would be slightly more expensive, but would be useable on all chests. I'll leave this to the professionals to decide. By the way, I appreciate your comment :) User MadSkillz1o1 sig2.PNG MadSkillz1o1 17:21, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I like this suggestion. Saving inventory space while still having all your keys will make it less of a pain to explore. Similarly, it is a pain to carry around so many storybooks. That could be reworked as well. --Arngrim 21:03, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Why would you need that many different keys? If you sell them, that would probably sell for more than what is in NM chests in most cases. Koda User Koda Kumi UT.jpeg Kumi 21:40, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
With that perspective, you can argue if there should be any chests/keys in the beginning areas at all; just give the players more gold in compensation. Instead, I think it's a simple pleasure for some people. The experience of opening that chest and gambling away that key might be more worth it than the marginal profit from selling the key. --Arngrim 22:10, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Koda, to counter you, of course, with the current system this wouldn't be important. But, as stated in the first line, since the chest system will probably be redone (made more useful, fun, possibly more rewarding), people will probably want to open chests. Maybe there will be weapons with unique, useful properties that drop only from chests. There's where this comes in :) Plus, the keys themselves look great :P User MadSkillz1o1 sig2.PNG MadSkillz1o1 10:36, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
