Arenanet has stated that it is against their design philosophy to have a combat withing a PvE server like this. They want the members of a server to cooperate, not fight each other. Thats why there is WvW.--Will Greyhawk 02:31, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

Anet encourages team work, therefor there will be no free for all. although I would love it if they mixed the WvW idea of more that 2 teams and the other PvP gamestyle creating some battlegrounds for 3 teams

The person who suggested this already gave instances of teamwork that would be used in a free-for-all world. I would certainly enjoy it, at least for a little while, but it might indeed detract from players cooperating more. Still, it would be a separate server, so I don't see it being a problem. --KirbyGotenksabsorbed 09:33, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

As I understand it, WvW will include three teams/servers fighting for supremacy rather than just two. As to the original suggestion, I might be in support of it if there were level-limit zones. In other words, a level 80 player who comes into the level 1-10 zone will be disabled from killing anyone in that zone. They would have to go to the level 70 - 80 zone to be able to kill other players.

Then, to satisfy the no-holds-barred, free-for-all crowd, there would be a zone where there are no level limits; the level 80 player can kill the level 1 player foolhardy enough to wander into that zone (since it would be clearly marked with warning signs before entering). However, I'm completely against the loss of experience, gold, or items when killed by another player. That sets up an environment that is too easily open to abuse and exploitation of less-experienced players. The only reward should be the satisfaction that comes from having bested another player in combat; preferably one of approximately equal (or better) skill and experience as you. This type of server has not worked in any mmo past or present. The fact that ANET has, in my opinion, made so many right choices so far and has not included this type of server should tell you something. I'm not quite sure how you would feel "forced" into something when there is still time for you to research this game and make a decision to purchase it or not. As stated above, this type of server is the complete opposite of the core design but you will actually be able to level to 80 by WvWvW or PvP. Every single mmo that comes out does not need a free for all server to be successful.
