Maybe not being as evil helped their posture. lol. It's probably just Anet wanting all races to evolve in some way. - Giant Nuker 14:30, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- The Charr have two different postures in Guild Wars. The entire reason for this is less a case of lore physique, and more a case of model physics. Guild Wars has beautiful but fairly static character models, so if they want an upright posture and a loping posture they needed different models. In Guild Wars 2, the Charr all walk a little bit upright, but there is at least one scene where a small warband can be seen running on all fours. Giving a lore reason for a difference that is really only happening due to graphical improvements... yeah, I don't really see the point. But that's just my opinion.--Ryan Galen 16:08, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Actually[edit]
250 years IS long enough for mutations to go down a few generations. That aside, I give A.net artistic lisence(sp?). It's the same reason Argonians didn't have reverse articulated legs in Oblivion. Either they were a different line of the same species, or A.net is simple improving what they have in GW1. If not, obviously they can't update the models in GW1. Well, they could. But that would be hard... qq.-- anguard 16:13, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Well I 'spose that could be true if they had a relatively short life expectancy but I don't think we have any indication whether or not that is true. Otherwise that would have to be one heck of a mutation to spread that fast.-Phlemhacker
Never mind, they seem to be hunched more in the new video.-Phlemhacker
- Honestly it doesn't matter how hunched the Charr are! The Martyrs in GW1 were fully upright, the rangers - slightly hunched when not firing, and the blades are quite hunched. Its a matter of posture, not physiology thats changed. Surely if your going to complain about changed, look at the fact Norn have gone from 10 foot killing machine to 6'5 guys with blonde hair. Or how Asura's ears have gotten smaller. Honestly would you prefer they kept the same models? :P
- Also 250 years is barely enough time to evolve, but if it has become a selective advantage to be more upright then it could happen quickly. For example, since theyre using guns now, those who are upright enough to aim will survive, and those who end up shooting their feet dont. Chibot2000 14:49, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Thoughts on Charr evolution[edit]
<rage> EVOLUTION IS A LIE AND A SIN YOU HEATHEN, GODS CREATED ALL RACES NOT SOME STUPID EVOLUTION, IT'S IN MY HOLY SCRIPTURE. WHY ARE THERE NO FOSSIL RECORDS OF INTERMEDIATE SPECIES, HUH ??? </rage>
- On a more serious note, in the first GW2 trailer you can see Charr running on four legs. What's up with that ? You raise an interesting question. They are more upright but they run on four legs. Or maybe that's just in the trailer ? MadSkillz1o1 11:31, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- I can't speak for Anet, but Charr aren't human, they're humanoid. Their bodies are built differently and noticeably resemble the great cats more so than humans. With that line of thinking, perhaps the Charr are able to tap into that bestial side of themselves to give themselves something of a speed boost. hmmm.... maybe the trailer was indeed a speed boost skill being shown.--Ravencroft0 10:51, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Legions are probably the answer?[edit]
Well, if you paid attention to the Charr and their professions in GW, the thought of being in a differnt legion might change the way the Charr are formed. For example. If you remember the Charr Flame Callers/Charr Flame Wielder/etc, they were upright. I'm guessing its because they were from the Flame Legion. The Charr Blademaster/Charr AxeFiend/etc were hunched over, giving the possibility of being in a different legion, perhaps the Iron Legion. The Charr Ash Walker/Charr Ashen Claw/etc could be in the Ash Legion, giving them a darker fur color and the hunched back. Charr Mind Spark/Charr Chaot/etc may be in the Blood Legion or something, giving them a dark fur, and upright back.--Eclipse143 7:47, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
