The Market Fluctuations[edit]

Are currently due to the changes brought about in the last skill rebalance. Adding these items to other areas is not going to fix anything, in fact it will simply make the situation worse as they would once again become readily available for farming. Part of the market correction that is taking place (and this will go on for awhile) is that the number of these items currently in "play" should be reduced by the eventual depletion of the stacks of them that people have accumulated doing speed clears. Once this happens, the market will settle in at whatever rate they are then available at through normal game play. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 13:55, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Which will still be questionable. It would be nice if there could at least be a cap on how much an item costs. 20k for a Rune of Superior Vigor? Rune of Major Vigor rarely if ever hits 4k. Sixteen plat for just a nine hit point difference? Really? Not putting blame on you, Wyn, or all the tech guys taking care of business, but I see enough "Market Problems" in real life without having to deal with them in game. I'm going to stop now before this turns into a full-on rant. --Ravencroft0 01:51, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
When I started playing the game in June 2006, Ectos were 10k, Superior Vigor Runes weren't even available at the trader because they were so scarce, so you had to buy them from other players for roughly 30k, and an Urgoz Longbow was 100k. Times change, and markets fluctuate, as it should be. The existence of Perma Shadow Form and other "invincible builds" has thrown the market so out of wack compared to what it once was it's almost unbelievable. Ectos and Shards are in elite areas because they are required for Elite things (Obsidian Armor and Chaos gloves). Making them available in other areas would just continue to devalue these "elite" things. Superior Vigor Runes are still scarce drops, I've gotten a total of 4 in the almost 4 years I've been playing, in comparison, I've got major vigors for close to 30% of my heroes {(13 x 26)/3=113}, plus 8 of my 12 play characters, most of which I've gotten as drops. So yes, the price difference is reasonable. The drop rates haven't really changed it's just that the existence of things like Ursan Blessing as it was, and Shadow Form have skewed the numbers. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 02:45, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Yep, I've received only 1 superior vig as a drop and it's on my ranger's elite druid armor - elite armor deserves elite runes, imo, and my ranger is my first character, so she gets spoiled like that. What about amber chunks and jadeite shards? Any chance of them being priced at 3k faction again? Or is there an increased chance that players can receive them outside PvP? Currently both allegiance oriented items can be dropped by some enemy NPCs, mainly those affiliated with the corresponding allegiance. Still the drops are so uncommon enough it's hardly worth the effort to try for it. There are many players who like being allied with Kurzicks or Luxons but hate PvP. What about making it so that all enemy npc Kurzicks/Luxons be given a chance to drop a respective item? In the Drops Jadeite page there are quite a few Jade Brotherhood npcs who can drop shards but are limited to only a few types of npcs. Again, make it so that all Jade Brotherhoods can drop a shard. And to be fair, and to keep with the ongoing animosity between the Am Fah and the Brotherhood, allow the Am Fah to drop Chunks. What would the developers feel about this idea? --Ravencroft0 07:59, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't expect it. Changing the faction cost was one of the first suggestions that was made when this section opened up (I know, because I made it). The argument is that there are plenty of ways to acquire faction that don't require pvp - vanquishing for one. And it does work, I've been doing it. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 08:18, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
We need to buddy up then. lol -- Ravencroft0 08:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
