Assassins are designed to jump into the fray and strike without warning, then flee and wait again, that's what makes them assassins. The main problem in GW1 with assassin builds meant for heavy spiking is they cannot have defensive skills. They give up defense for offense. If players properly skill up to expect spikes they can quite easily counter and backfire a sin's spike attempt. If more than one sin attacks in the spike you just need to put more into defense against assassins, or employ a few of your own. Also it has been quite a few years since Factions was released. Whereas they cannot do the same things in GW1 as they can do in GW2, Id expect shadowstepping (if it remains) has been effectively balanced and reworked. They cant put these changes into GW1 because they don't have the manpower right now along with the fact that GW1 isn't built the same as GW2. I believe assassins will be happily bouncing around in GW2 without the need of fear by the other professions that your death is signed the moment you see that black smoke cloud. Also, Id suspect that there will be fewer shadowsteps in the game in general, along with the fact that they may be defined upon the weapon you wield (which would only permit one on that half of bar) or as an elite or support (again, only one of them for either of those). As for stealth, its a broader term now since during night-time play your character can use far more stealth options in combat. Stealth is usable by all 8 classes and races, meaning everyone will be on equal ground in that sense.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 20:20, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

In GW2, even warriors have shadowsteps. There have always been multiple ways to stop sin spikes, the best being something called "teamwork." There's no need to nerf shadowstepping in a mono-profession system. If there is a way to make sin spikes take more skill than they do, then I'm all for it - killing the profession is unnecessary. (Note: on the subject of the mono-profession system, this means that IAS skills on other professions can be more useful, other professions can't abuse shadowsteps, and sin spikes will likely be slower. These all together make assassins easier to balance and counter.) -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 21:21, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
