Anet was using many special item colors recently[edit]

Taking a look at Zaishen coins or rock candies shows that Anet likely wouldn't have a big problem with that. This apparently does not apply for everyone, but the white font doesn't keep me from not noticing it. When i get drops like Lockpicks, Ectoplasm, Black Dye or Obsidian Shards, the word as a whole immediately becomes eye-catching for me. Both the green drop message as well as the white font that says "Glob of Ectoplasm". Having only one out of about three dozen rare crafting materials stand out with a special text color at the NPC trader would be kind of strange i think. Now if all (rare) crafting materials would get one color (e.g. the brown hue from Copper Zaishen Coins), i'd like the idea. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 15:21, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

I like this suggestion in combination with Zerpha's; rare material drops get a non-white color. Under this logic, Ecto, Obsidian Shard, Diamond, and so on will be highlighted. This won't solve the Lockpick, Black Dye or White Dye stand out effect that is desired. I think that asking Anet to put a conditional color on white drops of >= magic value is going to be problematic. This would mean the game client would have to have some knowledge from the server of Trader prices in order to implement such a feature. Mar Talk Master 16:05, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Colored titles for the rare materials and a specified list of currently-white items. Currently would include Lockpick, Black Dye or White Dye, with the likelihood that more would be added in later updates as the game economy changes. Separ 20:49, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
