Feedback talk:User/Sphinx/Individual filter to replace annoying character names - Ingame shop item

You pay for the game, then you pay to make it enjoyable. I can see Anet implement it right away. After that, you pay for more content, you pay to level faster, you pay to get items for free that you otherwise have to grind for, you pay to grind, you pay, you pay, you pay. @Koda, you're being ridiculous. As for the suggestion, as much as I'd like to see a LOT less names with Xx(Random Name) Xx or names that are a collection of names or phrases of whatever anime is popular right now, etc etc etc; I don't see a filter being viable. Its one of those things you just gotta deal with, and ignore.
you forgot to sign :P, personally i dont really care what people are called, but one day we're gonna have a shortage of names, and i dont see why anet would stop people naming what they want just so that one customer doesnt sulk over what someone else is called. so if the names are not offensive, deal with it XD Getefix 21:12, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Good idea in theory; provided you don't mind seeing a few thousand generic "Tyrian Citizens" walking around (given the preponderance of "silly" names). Also, given the near-infinite variability of in-game names, that .txt file is going to get pretty big.

An alternate suggestion would be this:
In the real world, you never know someone's name until they or someone who knows it tells it to you (situations where a person is wearing a name tag or badge being the exceptions, of course). All we know of them is the generic "person-walking-down-the-street-who-is-likely-a-citizen-of-the-country-I'm-currently-in". Thus, in the game, everyone is a generic "Tyrian Citizen" (or "Krytan Citizen", "Norn Citizen", "Charr Citizen", etc.). You only get to know their name and have it displayed on your screen after having interacted with them in some way, they have chosen to reveal their name to you, or you have specifically requested their name. If, after getting to know their proper name, you find it "silly", you can then opt to have it go back to displaying the generic "Tyrian Citizen" or you can rename them (but this renaming would only apply to how it appears on your screen; nobody elses').
