Only if unlocked[edit]

Agreed but only for missions/dungeons that were already completed (either account or on character). A brand new player shouldn't be able to pick up a book and read "Abaddon's Gate" as the final mission of Nightfall. -- Konig/talk 01:50, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, you're correct; this shouldn't be any different from unlocking anything else in the game, especially since there are (theoretical) spoilers associated with some of the titles. (Wish I had thunk of this in the first place.)
However, I think the dungeon books are different: as soon as you can get one of the books, you are (mechanics and storywise) eligible to complete any of the dungeons and associated quests...with the exception of HoS (which is weird for other reasons). I don't think there's any reason to hide the ball, especially since some players won't complete some of the dungeons.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:39, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Thunk, eh? I think you mean thought. But anyways, I don't see the change to the dungeon guide necessary - that is, showing the boss and quest. Quest is helpful, but boss is outright unnecessary as you cannot complete the dungeon without killing said boss and once you do you get a chest and a nice big "complete" icon in your screen - impossible to miss. There's more than just HoS that's inaccessible from the get go - Slavers' Exile (campaign), Cathedral of Flames (Warband of Brothers), Raven's Point (Gate Too Far), Oola's Lab (Elusive Golemancer), and Bloodstone Caves (Finding the Bloodstone). There are even 2 dungeons which must be entered without the dungeon being necessary. But anyways, the spoiler thing was mainly in reference to the missions, rather than the dungeons (HoS can be entered even before the storyline takes you though it - you just cannot enter level 2). -- Konig/talk 04:29, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
The Z-bounties refer to the boss (not the dungeon) and many folks talk about going after boss. Same with the quests; it's annoying to try to track. Even after completing a dungeon, I don't always remember which quest that was or which boss. So, instead of (in effect) requiring people to go to the wiki for basic info, why not add it into the books? It won't be in anyone's way (not really) and it will be helpful to many with whom I've spoken.
And, yeah, I forgot about those other dungeons that require storyline progress. So the unlock requirement should apply to all books. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:56, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
I support this suggestion fully. Konig's amendment is probably a good one too, although I do not personally suffer the spoiler effect that it addresses (I get far too immersed for any such advance information to register) ... same for books and films, totally immune to it. Others may be afflicted however, so it's a useful amendment. Morgaine 08:46, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
