More of "Too much of a good thing"[edit]

Related to this same issue are different skins, identical stats, with different names. --Emkyooess 00:11, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't think I mind items that look different and share stats. After all, peeps pay huge sums of ectos for cool skins or green items (that can be put together with existing upgrades). Do you have some examples where that leads to unnecessary confusion? (It might be worth a suggestion or two. If you have an idea already, please point me to the page; I'd be happy to provide some feedback if that would be useful to you.)
Thanks again for your feedback.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:07, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Short Sword Same skin, but with names of Short Sword, Long Sword, Gladius and Rinblade. As someone who (passively) tries to collect one of each sword skin, I noticed this. --Emkyooess 01:15, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok thanks. (PS I apologize for resetting the idents above without checking with you first; I hope you'll find that they now show the appropriate spacing for this thread's history.)   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Note that there are some quite ordinarily looking random weapon drops that have rare or very rare names, most notable example is the Swamp Club but there are more. Since the entire GW item system is so uninteresting and lacking in variety, even the smallest differences make the difference here and those items are often sought after by collectors. So if there are varying names of identical items that are random drops they shouldn't be changed and if anything is to be changed it's their looks. There's however nothing wrong with updating the inappropriate names of Collector, Crafter and Quest Reward weapons. --YawgYawg 03:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Suggestion[edit]

If you report the duplicates to QA on the bug reporting pages, I think we could swing making changes. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 23:23, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

That would be super! Thank you for taking the time to let me know. (I will try to focus on those that seem most frustrating to people.)   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:52, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Tenny (allow me, please), how are we going to go from here to make it so? --Emkyooess 14:34, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
You could start here. I know it's not perfect, but it would give you a source of pages anyway. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 00:26, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Here, I pulled the list of weapons out at least User:Wynthyst/Special/Weapons diambigulations. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 00:49, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
This is great! Thank you. I will start on the next step shortly (after finishing up my current series of projects.)   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:28, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome. I think if you create a subpage of the suggestion and make a table, much like you have on the suggestion itself, you could simply link it on the bugs page for the QA team to work off of. It would probably be easier than trying to submit separate posts for each, etc. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 21:52, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) You'll probably notice that I'm gearing up to hit this topic next. I will create a subpage that uses the table format that Wyn has suggested, with appropriate places for the devs to notate and check-off. As soon as I have a strong list, I'll create the misc-bug that points to the list.

For items ID'd later, I plan to separate tables with section headers, so that the devs don't have to fight a moving target. Stay tuned.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:08, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
