Feedback talk:User/Volfen/One Character Cloned to Multiple Slots

  • The first part (concerning that one name for multiple characters) would be completely useless. In the original GW (I'll call it OGW) One character is (technically) 1 name. If you paid attention to Guild and Friend'sList logs, it would say, example, *John Locke (also Rene Descartes)* for guild logs, and for friend'slist logs it would say *Rene Descartes(John Locke)*. So players would know that John Locke is Originally and firstly met, Rene Descartes. But, if the look is what you REALLY aim for, then why not just get like one of those makeover things in OGW? If they have those that is in GW2, which may possibly be in GW2.

As for your second suggestion, I think that players should NOT be able to change proffesions simply for the fact that if one prof is OP, the character can switch to the prof and there will be a surplus on this particualar prof causing inflation on that prof's weapons, and such. armor would be incompatible as well.

If changing professions was going to be accessable, acquiring different professions should be rather hard and time-consuming to complete. for example, completing one campaign with a character and completing a whole lot of hard difficulty quests. that character's proffession would be added to a "roster" ON A SINGLE CHARACTER where the profesions can be accessed. When i say On a sing character, i mean that only one character can use that "proffession change credit" once. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Eclipse143 (talk).

It wouldn't be "useless" even in the original Guild Wars. There are lots of other areas in the game aside from a friend's list or Guild roster. You could show up in a random outpost and have people know who you were even if you had switched characters, without having to be on their friend's list, without having to be in their guild. With what seems to be a great deal more emphasis in GW2 on role-playing, I would say that this would be a welcome addition. However, it is very likely that the professions have appearances that are exclusive, similar to how the GW1 process works. Profession switching, that's highly doubtful, and I wouldn't necessarily want it, depending on how it was implemented, and, indeed, how the rest of the game functions. The personal storyline is probably going to result in gaining skills and abilities that you cannot learn in any other way, so if you switched to a new profession, you'd be missing out on those storyline related functions. If they just gave you the missing abilities and skills, you've just cheated yourself out of a story, and if you had to start over and go through it, you might as well have just created a new character. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 10:00, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
I read somewhere recently that said players wouldn't be able to change professions after they initially choose. Also with how the personal storyline is, why would you want to create the same character over and over again...?~Cookies~ 11:33, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Single Name for multiple character wont happen[edit]

This wont happen. Since the game is a MMORPG now, which means players will be in the masses. And Server wont be able to separate the different characters. And imagine the impact this will have on other players.--Knighthonor 18:38, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Oddly enough, Final Fantasy XI does just this (well, sort of). I think it is one of the few positive features the game has. Koda User Koda Kumi UT.jpeg Kumi 19:06, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
