I think we'd all agree that the wiki's primary target audience is new players. While the map without Gadd's Encampment on it mentions Sparkfly Swamp in the file name, would a new player know how to get there? Most maps should have an outpost where players can see where to start from. Even veteran players may need a reminder. The map without Gadd's encampment doesn't help in this regard. The argument put forth that shrines are more helpful is a just personal taste and in this particular example is needless as the route from Gadd's to Nick is virtually a straight line. Look at the map for getting to the Bogroot Growths dungeon. No need for shrines there. Again, what is needed is an origin on the map (Gadd's) and destination (Nick for gifts and Giriff and Tekks for the dungeon). These maps help the new as well as the veteran player more than a map with no origin and 2 shrines (which again, aren't even necessary to get to Nick with the path being so straight). We should be thinking of new players and the player base as a whole when making maps. What's best for them, not what we personally like. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 20:23, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

I agree that having Gadd's Encampment (and possibly even Sparkfly) on the map is useful. New players will know how to get there because that info is given on the Nick page, including a link to the location page. And I still think the shrines are useful - (new) players might die and not having to run all the way from GE again is helpful. So leapfrogging from one shrine to the next is better than running in a straight line.
Now you should replace the other maps w/o any outpost info as well. It's for the good of new players after all! And you seem to have the time as well ... ;-P Steve1 (talk) 21:29, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
you call that a straight line? Had too much alcohol?!79.242.159.103 10:31, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
There is no need for ad hominem here nor in edit summaries. I am impartial to which version is used for the map and see arguments in favour of both. So may I suggest a new player friendly alternative to coexist with the direct route? This can even be done on the same map in different colours. - Infinite - talk 11:57, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Well, added GE since it's useful. Sparkfly is unnecessary since that info is given both on the Cycle page and the weekly activities. Steve1 (talk) 16:37, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
