Editing bots

This project is intended to allow users to request bot edits for highly repetitive editing tasks.

Within the context of wikis, a editing bot is an automated software which is generally used to perform repetitive editing tasks. Since a bot is capable of making a huge number of changes in a short period of time, their changes are not shown on the default Recent Changes page. To see bot edits, activate "show bot edits" on the special page.

If a bot is making inaccurate or inappropriate edits, leave a message on its talk page to shut down the bot and read the bot's user page for additional instructions.

Current Bots on Guild Wars Wiki[edit]

  • Wikichu (contribs)
    Wikibot of Poke.
This bot is primarily used for highly repetitive editing tasks, especially for more complex tasks.

Requests[edit]

One-time tasks[edit]

  • If we have any active bots, update pages using {{armor art infobox}} and {{item infobox}}} to remove prepending and appending link brackets from the campaign parameter. If not, I'll get around to having it done eventually. horrible | contribs 09:07, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

Replace the HTML gray spans with {{gray}} in skill descriptions. (Requested by User:Smiley on User talk:Chieftain Alex.
Yes Complete. 147 pages edited. Edit byte changes quickly verified as being multiples of 23, 24 or 25 bytes. Some spot checks performed. -Chieftain Alex 21:28, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
  • As per Category:Spell ranged skills, could we have all instances of | range = Spell be changed to | range = Casting? Much appreciated. G R E E N E R 16:45, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes Done. 77 pages updated. The category should empty out if we wait, in the meantime I've tagged it for deletion. -Chieftain Alex 19:31, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes Done. 1680 pages edited. I also took the opportunity to cleanup some of the wikicode on each page (removal of hanging whitespace, blank parameters, heading spacing, etc). -Chieftain Alex 21:20, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
Yes Done. 223 pages edited (PvE skills included: Sunspear, Lightbringer, Asura, Deldrimor, Ebon Vanguard and Norn) -Chieftain Alex 13:24, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
Yes 82 pages edited. -Chieftain Alex 14:25, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
  • Updating the name of the interwiki prefix from "self:" to "ingame-help:" to avoid a naming conflict with a reserved word used by the Semantic MediaWiki extension. This then allows ArenaNet to use the same extensions folder for all of the wikis. Affected pages are all the ones within the "Game_link" namespace. 4979 pages identified. -Chieftain Alex 13:19, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes 4971 pages edited with the bot. 8 pages done by hand since they didn't use either the interwiki prefix or the new one. -Chieftain Alex 14:47, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
Probably worth noting for later that Namespace 102 is used in the external link from the top of the tables used on each of the Guild Wars Wiki:Game integration subpages. -Chieftain Alex 14:53, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
