Design-A-Weapon Contest Final

The deadline for entries in the Design-A-Weapon contest is Midnight (PST) tonight, December 21st. To give a little extra time, we won't turn away entries postmarked tomorrow (December 22nd) either, but after that, we must settle into the judging rounds so that we can determine the selected weapons and get them to the Art Team for final conceptualization. Read about the contest on this page and send your entry or entries now!

More Year-End Awards

IGN has announced their year-end awards, and Guild Wars has placed in two major categories, including Best Persistent World Game and Best RPG. In addition, Voodoo Extreme named ArenaNet as the Best New Developer and Guild Wars as one of the Top 5 Games of the Year.

GWWC Rules Amended

In order to ease the challenge of obtaining visa in advance of the Regional Playoffs, we have amended the Guild Wars 2006 World Championship Rules, as follows: "Player must be able to travel without restriction to Taipei, Taiwan. Players will be required to deliver proof of possession of a passport and satisfaction of all other requirements for entering the country. Proof must be sent to ArenaNet by expedited mail, fax or scanned image on or before 08:00 (a.m.) GMT January 4, 2006. Costs associated with obtaining a passport are the sole responsibility of the individual player."

After the Regional Round has been completed, ArenaNet will work with the invited Guilds to help expedite the visa process.

$100,000 in Prizes Announced, Rules Published

We are pleased to alert all guilds seeking a spot in the Guild Wars World Championship that we have posted two sets of official rules today. The rules include exciting details on the prizes and a sure-to-please change in the age restrictions for GWWC participants. Find the specific GWWC Rules on this link, and be sure to also read the Universal Guild Wars Tournament Rules on this link.

Guild Lockdown Grace Period

As you are aware, a lockdown for guild membership took effect on December 5th. This meant that players were not allowed to change guilds after that date. However, with the change in the age restrictions and other factors made clear by the publication of the event and tournament rules, we will be offering a single 24-hour "Grace Period" for guild resettling. Each player may make one, single change in guild membership between the hours of Midnight PST or 08:00 (a.m.) GMT on Saturday, December 17 and Midnight PST or 08:00 (a.m.) GMT on Sunday, December 18th. Any player who has changed or changes guilds outside of this specific grace period will be ineligible to participate in the Regional Playoffs or the Guild Wars World Championship. Please read the GWWC Rules and the Universal Guild Wars Tournament Rules for more information.
