Candidate statement[edit]

I wish to become a sysop here on the wiki because i feel i can do more good that way. I do not think burecrat would be a good position for me, but i think being a sysop, i could really help out the wiki. As well as being able to deal with any pesky vandals, gibber bots, etc. I also think i can handle the other responsibilities, such as keeping the peace in some situations, and cleaning up articles, and expanding stubs. In conclusion, i do not belive i would make a good burecrat, but i feel i could do a lot of good as a sysop--Raph Talky 14:26, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree with all of the below statements, and that gives me insight as to what i really need and dont need
I felt it a little self centered and somewhat pompous to mention Bcrat, I feel i just wish to have the power of a sysop...just because...

Oppose. I can't shake the feeling that this entire nomination has a "Why not" feel to it and I can think of no reason that this user needs Sysop tools in order to contribute in a meaningful way. There's also nothing of which I'm aware that particularly distinguishes this user, certainly not so much so that he should be made a Sysop. *Defiant Elements* +talk 15:25, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Oppose. I'm getting the same vibes as DE. Raph has potential to be a great contributor, but I feel he can do the same work and same quality work as a normal user. Calor 15:31, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Oppose. "i feel i can do more good that way." -- unfortunately, I haven't seen Raph maxing out his ability to do "good" in order to require sysoption to increase that goodness; I cannot see how sysop tools will help him in his daily wiki life. I also don't understand why being a bureaucrat was brought up here - it's not a case of either being a bureaucrat or a sysop to be on the wiki. I haven't seen Raph mediating conflicts or trying to reduce the drama as he explains on the talk page, so I doubt being a sysop would enact that now -- and anyway, being a sysop isn't needed to do that.
