Some questions[edit]

  1. What reasons are there for you wanting to be a sysop?
  2. Is there anything that makes you stick out from the rest of the crowd, or makes you fit in with what sysops do at the moment?
  3. How would you deal with vandals, trolls and policy violators?
  4. Could you point me to some situation(s) where you have constructively interacted with problematic users?
  5. Would you stick to every word a policy dictates, or more the spirit and general meaning of it?

I can answer all of those

  1. I would like to help out the wiki in a more meaningfull way
  2. I wish to help keep the peace in times of wikiconflict (or even wikidrama), that and i am usually able to keep a level head in said situations
  3. I would do what most other sysops would do. Judge the seriousness of the situation, and would deal with it as such (minor warning for 2 time vandal, block gibber bots, etc.
  4. I have delt with several vandals in a responsible maneer (i.e warnings), an example of which is User Talk:67.49.180.8, one of my more recent edits
  5. I would take policies seriously, but i am not usually a "by the book" person, therefore i may make actions more on the spirit of a policy

You don't mention the more mundane (and more important) of the sysop duties of cleaning up and maintaining articles and pages. Is your main goal to be a wiki cop?--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 14:51, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
In response to number 2, I haven't seen you taking part in resolving conflicts or mediating disputes as a user. Do you have any examples of where you have done this, in case I missed it? Also, why do you think it is necessary to be a sysop in order to do that? --Pling! \ Brains12 14:55, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
In response to number 1, do you really feel you have to be a sysop in order to do that? -- Mini Me talk 14:59, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

hmmm..in response to wynthyst...i have forgotten about the other duties of a sysop. But i am willing to do so, as i have done before...i have corrected spelling errors, cleaned up pages, put forward valid information, etc. in many articles one page i am working on is the 130 Dervish, as this is something i wish to have done and completed. You may look through my contributions ans see my examples, as there are quite a few to be able to name them all, and no, my goal is not to be a wikicop--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 15:01, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

in response to mini me, i think being a sysop will help me better accomplish my goals, not so much as a vandal stopper, but as a contributor to the wiki, that would be able to take care of any vandals, as well as contribute to the wiki in the form of cleaning up articles, providing correct information, screenshots, etc.--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 15:04, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

in response to Brains12's second question, see the above statement. Only other thing i would mention is that if the situation got out of hand (i.e starting becoming impossible to mediate peacefully, NPA attacks, and general chaos) i would be albe to take some more serious form of action, if neccessary--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 15:06, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
