"Any registered user may be nominated as a candidate". The creator of the page is an IP. Talk br12(talk) • 20:11, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

The user on the election page is a registered user. Was probably logged out. Lord of all tyria 20:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok, my mistake. --Talk br12(talk) • 20:21, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
That users userpage and talk page is empty except for elocs welcome template, makes me wonder if he's active enough :/ --Cursed Angel talk 20:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Just oppose the nomination when it gets to voting then. Lord of all tyria 20:34, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I've never heard of him, and I'm not surprised: he only has 6 contributions total. —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:40, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
So wait a second, we won't delete the candidate page, for a member with 6 contributions, and a joke candidacy platform? Honestly now... UserDrago-sig.gif Drago 22:01, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
This user should be given a chance to make a real impression. Voting will show if it's great or not anyway. - anja talk 22:12, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Should we ask that the actual candidate make an edit on the candidacy page while logged in? What's currently on it was written by an anon (and seemingly unclear of what a bureaucrat is). -- ab.er.rant sig 03:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd say that's a good idea. —Ebany Salmonderiel 19:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

RIUsil has indirectly confirmed wanting this through his post on my talk page. —Ebany Salmonderiel 19:49, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

@Usil: This position isn't about how long you've played the game, but how you can help the wiki; no-one will elect you for being a beta tester. —Ebany Salmonderiel 19:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

There's no need to admonish him for putting himself forward or for describing his merits on the nomination page. That's what the nomination page is for. The bureaucrat election process allows any registered user to participate. I expect he won't get the position, being a newcomer and an unknown, but he has the right to nominate himself just like anyone else.
We do not have a "only run if you're going to win" culture here -- let's not develop it. I quite like that people like Eloc and usil951 put themselves forward each time, even though realistically speaking they don't have a chance. It keeps the elections from being the same two people each time, and it makes all the candidates more aware of what qualities people want in a bureaucrat.

I wasn't trying to admonish him for describing his merits; I was trying to point out that his including the beta tester doesn't really help matters much. I guess it seemed overly aggressive because I was a bit agitated by an implied "I'm better at GW than you" meaning I sensed behind the message. Of course, it could be/probably is that I'm interpreting things differently to how it was meant to be taken. —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
PS: The "I'm better than you" that I mentioned wasn't on here, it was on my talk page. —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:31, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
