Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2010-02 bureaucrat election/Tanaric

From some of the activity seen, I think Tanaric will make a good bureaucrat. IMO Tanaric seems level headed, and doesn't allow emotions to dictate his words. Even though he's been involved in wiki drama especially lately, I think his handling of the situation is commendable considering the circumstances. I disagree with Tanarics statement; he has been doing things that other sysiops have not. As such, the cost of losing him as a sysop is higher than what benefit there is in having him as bcrat over, say, gares. Backsword 15:37, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

So appoint other qualified sysops, or amend the admin policy to allow bcrats (or hell, even just me specifically) to engage in sysop duties while I'm a bureaucrat if I win a seat. I don't micromanage how you guys contribute to maximize "the good of the wiki" -- I'd prefer it if you'd do me the same courtesy. —Tanaric 18:08, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

I don't want anyone to get the wrong picture. Just so everybody's aware of the actual difference between a bcrat and sysop is...it's not being able to ban unless there is no active sysop around or there is an emergency, being on the ArbComm, and presiding over RfA/RfRs. Just being around for a long time, every admin eventually falls into one general category or another. Tanaric's primary involvement is a policy and user conflict admin. Xeeron is in the policy category. I'm less involved in policy and more deeply involved in enforcement and user conflict. I've seen Pling also fall into the enforcement category. My point being that besides regular enforcement, everything else I mentioned a bcrat can do just the same as if they were still an admin. So, how Tanaric works on this wiki would be the same regardless of if he was a bcrat or an admin. I generally agree, although there are some issues (like banning Ariyen/Kaisha) that I would not have been able to do as a bureaucrat. —Tanaric 19:22, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
