RE Shard: What voluntary request? This reconfirmation was made back when the RfA and Adminship policy was established; at that time the grandfathered sysops were asked to reconfirm themselves (voluntary, not required) so that the community can accept them under the new policies. Every sysop back then did that voluntary and it was a very appropriate way to do that.
