Ranking

Ranking is the act of displaying an emote such as Hero or Zaishen rank specifically to somebody, usually another player or an opposing team. In most cases, the goal of ranking is to assert superiority or taunt. Many people consider ranking to be unsportmanshiplike or rude, though some view it as just playful ribbing.

A popular situation to rank someone is in a PvP match over a dead opponent's body; the Zaishen rank was intentionally designed for this[1]; the emote animations feature various weapons falling from the sky and striking the ground in front of the player hence with careful positioning the weapons will seem to strike a corpse on the ground.

Ranking also occurs in PvE by monsters on humans; Charr in EotN may rank dead players with their infamous Gloat skill which depicts the animation of a relatively high Hero emote.
