Dr. Stephen Clarke-Willson is the current Game Director of Guild Wars, former Vice President of IT at NCSoft, and former Studio Technical Director at ArenaNet. He received his Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from University of California, Irvine in 1986. Before moving into the video game industry, Dr. Clarke-Willson worked on research for the United States Air Force's B-2 bomber, developing mission planning avionics.
He started in the game industry in 1990 as a producer at Virgin Interactive, where he produced or executive produced several popular titles including The Seventh Guest, Dune, Dune II, Cool Spot and Disney's Aladdin for Sega Genesis. He returned to his programming roots at ArenaNet as a server programmer after working on the DirectSong music store which sold Guild Wars soundtracks.
