Skill Change[edit]
Earshot = Fail. This skill sucks now. Enchantments are easy to strip and its effect wasn't that powerful. More to the point, earshot is worthless. WOOT! 5 less energy and now NO-ONE will be benefited by my spell! Do they wan't to give people more of a reason to run paragons and earshot radius? Dancing Gnome 06:26, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Lol you fail idiot O_O 87.123.51.240 12:31, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Be nice now... -- §Lacky§ says: Sign your comments! 08:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Anyone notice that this skill is just nerfed now? in an earlier update they changed it to earshot only, but reduced casting time to 1 and energy to 10. Now they bring back the casting time and energy and monks are left with a nerfed skill. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.174.28.140 (talk • contribs) at 21:15, 30 April 2008 (UTC).
- First, sign please (Read Lacky's signature!). Second, I don't know what's more hilarious. Your failure to read, for this had been discussed further down the page as a temporary change, or this comment being the day before the revert. --Chaiyo Kaldor talk contribs 21:01, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
15 Energy[edit]
As of today, Aegis costs 15 energy, up from 10. Article is already changed. Gogey 23:17, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
This skill should be moved over to energy storage because no monk will be able to afford to use this skill.William Wallace 05:38, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- That or move Glyph of Lesser Energy over to Divine Favor. DancingZombies 06:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- If a monk can't afford the extra 5e for a party-wide block-buff, they have serious e-management problems, and may want to rethink their style/build. --SoraMitsukai 16:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed, but it would be nice to have one or the other: a 10 point prot for everyone in earshot or a 15 point prot for everyone within minimap range. I prefer the 15 point-minimap range but, even after the change to earshot, I still used Aegis often. However, 15 points AND limited to earshot seems excessive. I hope this really is temporary. -- SeditiousBroom ♠ my talk page 13:52, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- It also prevents overextending that would otherwise be foolish, so your FOTM melee builds have to think twice before risking a counterspike from a linebacker. IMO, it's fine as is, because it requires good positioning for very powerful effect. --SoraMitsukai 05:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

For one, it used to cost 15 energy some time before. Second, the nerf is TEMPORARY. Get over it.
- It also used to cover those who overextended outside the monk's casting range for that cost. Regardless, Sora is right. 76.89.81.150 01:22, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Enchantment duration increase?[edit]
If used with a +20% enchant mod does this mean Aegis could last 13Sec at 14 Protection Prayers? If so, it should be possible to maintain 50% chance to block with Glyph of Renewal :3 - Byakko 07:36, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
or you can just chain DA for unremovable 50% block. without having to lock your monk to be Mo/E with GoROni 23:29, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Or chain Aegis with two monks. --Boogy (Talk/Contributions) 15:15, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Acquisition[edit]
micah fergson in EOTN does not have this skill.212.187.73.45 19:59, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- He does if you've already unlocked it somewhere else. -- Wyn 20:21, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Skill trainers will always offer to teach you unlocked skills (provided it's either core or from the same campaign of the trainer).
- Probably 212.187.73.45 was referring to article implying EotN NPC would offer to teach (and unlock) this skill for player who hadn't purchased it yet.
- I cannot check this info, cause I've already unlocked every skill so... can't verify which NPC starts offering what skills. Gonna ask a guild mate. --NIN37 20:48, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- This is an ongoing issue, to hopefully resolve it, we have asked for a list of the default skills from ArenaNet, but they have not provided it yet. -- Wyn 20:52, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Just checked this on an account that is not UAX, and this skill is not available in EotN if it's not unlocked.--Pyron Sy 22:45, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Skill Icon[edit]
Aegis guy = Turai Ossa?
I'd guess he is, I mean, look at his pauldron and the part of his cuirass that is seen on the icon, they seem to be matching.

- I agree, perhaps add to notes/trivia? 24.195.246.31 21:42, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry but I have to disagree, the Aegis icon man has a large, bushy beard (larger than Turai's) and it looks like he has long hair. He's also wearing a crown, not Turai's helm. Pauldren is similar, and I do admit their faces are quite similar (though the pauldren is actually different, Mr. Aegis' has a ridge in the center, Turai's is a few inches off. wts some time off my hands, whisp offer) ~ Chao 21:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- I added the ghostly hero's picture for additional comparison. 145.94.74.23 08:50, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Looks more like a coincidence rather than a reference, but I don't care if you have your jollies by noting it or not. 68.58.91.59 02:53, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't think this skill icon represents Turai Ossa either. It's a core skill which was available during Prophecies, so unless the Prophecies foretold what Turai Ossa looked like then I don't understand how it could resemble him. They don't look at all similar, either.

Lol[edit]
Watch this skill become 10 1 20 : For like 15 seconds, all party members in range block for like 75% lol. →[ »Halogod (talk)« ]← 13:50, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- I would definitely use a skill that interacts with how angry I get. Could definitely be useful when I play with some of my guildies... Norwegian Thunder 13:01, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Lol i'd love a skill that says "For like 15 seconds, all party members in rage block for like 75%" exactly like that.Raging party+like=ftw. :D Super Range Ranger 15:03, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
