Talk:Ancestors' Rage (PvP)
wow, totally and utterly destroyed beyond comprehension. might as well bring spirt rift.
- Or channeled strike, which still does easily over 100 damage. People run it in rit spike now, too. -Auron 22:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- At least it doesn't trigger spirit bond?
Nah, not enough reason to take it.
- They've turned it into a defensive skill now, it works like that smiting prayers spell... but only two seconds instead of 5. Pretty gimped now, really.
- OR it can potentially be better now cause it goes under spirit bond... so it could potentially be doing a lot more damage in spikes. 72.177.204.158 18:15, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- This skill is buffed with the 2 second AoE, it isnt countered by spirit bond or prot spirit and reversal of fortune is slightly less effective against it. It's at least possible to avoid some of the dmg now, but not much more unlikely than before.67.191.72.178 01:37, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Just kding the target or having a good water ele makes this nerf a buff. honestyl, its only in TA that its going to hurt significantly, because you cant have enough kd's and snares for every spike without (atleast, imo) gimped bars. 70.21.225.26 13:53, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
stop failing. 2 sec cast is nom nom nom for dshot. if you call 1/4 of a second and 1 second compared to 2 seconds worse then you fail badly >:Oni 15:57, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Can you read?~>Sins WDB 18:15, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Read what? him saying that it works for spikes? In TA, where he said that it's at the strongest point, magebane rangers are crawling all over the areas in balanced. any 2sec cast spell gets owned. even though the damage is under spirit bond trigger it still isnt worth it.
Tell me, how is a 1/4 sec 110~dmg skill worse than a 2 sec 100 damage spell that triggers 1 time for 50 dmg every 2 seconds.
Srsly, if the monk is leet enough to predict that 1/4 cast/ 1 sec cast, put spirit bond on the target BEFORE the spike, then that monk would also have spiritbonded all the other spike damages in the spike.meaning..No spike O.O! Onis tireness probby made this not making sense. but i'll say it short.
This was a nerf. and the skill is dead in the current meta.
yay.Oni 01:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- This doesn't have a two-second cast time, the skill's effects occur for two seconds. I would assume that's what the above comment was referring to. -- Brains12 \ talk 01:28, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
oni fails D:. altho oni getst o blame the time ;3 it was like 4 am when oni posted here.
still a nerf, tho. only a epic monk of reflexness would be able to spiritbond a target BEFORE ar hitsOni 11:56, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Adjacent range is not going to require epic reflexes, just observation on position. Can't do that anymore though since the dmg is split, even with an extra 25% dmg spirit bond wont trigger. AR is still viable, but the splinter nerf is what actually hurts the Rit.~>Sins WDB 04:35, 19 June 2008 (UTC) Not easy to see dem assassins shadowstepping. Oni 16:38, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
wth does that have to do with anything? were you on a narcotic substance when you posted that, is the stuff cheap? lol~>Sins WDB 07:06, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- You're right saying that it's not hard to watch the frontline to catch spikes but what Oni is trying to say is that the retardation that is shadowstepping is gonna be hard to watch (D/A spikes). 67.184.146.234 16:35, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
new nerf[edit]
Smiter's Booned...--164.106.215.11 01:43, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
just take remove skill if you dont want it, instead of nerfing it like 5 times, stupid anet...71.97.178.221 02:45, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- It does 10 less damage than before and it deals even less to 80-100 armor foes and kiting foes. It would be funny to if the guilds exploits other Ritualist skills. "We've blocked the Ritualist from PvP for being too effective in GvG. For 3 years we did not really expect anyone to take this profession seriously nor the Paragon. This changes doesnt affect PvE."--ShadowFog 03:50, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Broken up its fucking ass 75.153.47.130 04:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, it was a pretty good nerf; made annoying spikes in GvG less deadly, although slightly. Pika Fan 04:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Change description to:[edit]
Waste 5 energy and a second of your life. For 3 seconds all foes adjacent to target ally will laugh at you for using this horrible skill. SniperFox 12:14, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- No way, I know what anet is doing. Theyre turning this into a low cost balthazar's aura. Just wait a few months, youll see.
- That doesn't ignore armor... Vili 17:07, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- You and your armor ignoring damage... Stop tank hunting Vili, geez. Misery 17:09, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- If ARage were given Balthazar's Aura duration/damage, it would end up along the lines of Glimmering Mark or Seeping Wound. Vili 01:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- Along the lines of terrible skills? 82.75.192.76 19:40, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- this skill is worse then before but it's still acceptable imo, 90 AoE damage for 5 energy, they should reduce the cast back to 1/4 tho:/78.20.153.111 16:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

- 90 pbaoe is still weak, they should add another second on to it, make it 120~ 05:19, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
This seems to be Armor ignoring too[edit]
Ups? --Frosty 10:06, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- yes, after the buff around 90 AoE armor ignoring damage sounds quite appealing. A pity it doesn't happen quicker, say, in the space of two seconds. 90.206.126.92 19:33, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- It's still lightning damage though, like splinter weapon is still physical damage even though it ignored armor. For example, if you use ward of weakness and then ancestor's rage the enemies will become weakened because it counts as elemental damage. Necromas 21:04, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I prefer this version over the PvE variant[edit]
The PvP version of Arage actually does more damage over time than its PvE counterpart. Compare at 15 Channeling Magic, you get 110 damage in PvE vs. 123 damage in PvP. The PvP cycle time is 9 seconds (8 second recharge + 1 second casting time) while the PvE versions cycle time is 10 and 1/4 second (10 second recharge + 1/4 second casting time). The PvE verison does have the advantage of doing all its damage in a single packet, which makes it better for spiking. Nonetheless, Arage is a pretty good pressure skill in PvP, oddly overlooked since it was buffed in the January 2012 balance patch. It's cheap, has a short cooldown, and is an AoE. Combine with Cruel Was Daoshen for increased damage. 73.148.97.93 01:19, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
