What would you say was better: AoD or shadow walk with a cancel stance? ----thE mAttSEr User The Mattser Cleave.jpg Talk

AoD, no time limit, ench for GPS, only 1 skil slot ect. but it's elite and that makes them incomparable. — Skakid9090 20:13, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Hard to cancel AoD. I think they should add a hotkey to release enchantments. --74.171.70.24 00:01, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
just make your uphold panel bigger under UI settings. my monk can't live without that. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 16:10, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
A Hotkey would be much better though. Many people don't like using AoD on their sins for that reason. It makes it hard to make well timed retreats. --74.171.70.24 23:22, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
o.O i heard most people use their mouse anyway... but i'd also appreciate a shortcut. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 11:33, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I heard many people are bad. This is the best assassin elite there is. -- NUKLEAR User NuclearVII signature 3.jpgIIV 14:49, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
i heard some people drop random flaming comments on talk pages which haven't had an edit for half a year :P - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 14:51, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
What imbecile does that? -- NUKLEAR User NuclearVII signature 3.jpgIIV 14:52, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
i heard of one who has weaps of mass destruction. ¬.¬ - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 15:01, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Obviously not me, nukes are our friends! mass destruction is such an ugly word...-- NUKLEAR User NuclearVII signature 3.jpgIIV 15:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Still one of the best sin skills imo (yeah, PS, but that's just lame and overused, right?). Mediggo 06:59, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

I miss this skill :( --99.230.146.62 15:34, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

this is a skill is used for typical assaisns who get in the heat of combat with alot of confusion kill there foe fast the retreat withot some ranger using pindown or a warrior following them back The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.118.38.237 (talk) at 13:02, 05 November 2009 (UTC).
i went to cinema and ate some popcorn tasty nice movie watched but lots of advert after presents and my brain just actually exploded trying to read that awful sentence.

Testing needed.[edit]

Does your corpse shadow step back if you die? Because you stop maintaining the enchantment. Maybe worth a note. F.c.SauerThe preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.208.166.90 (talk) at 20:06, 21 October 2009 (UTC).

Just tested, your corpse doesn't tele back --Frosty User Frosty Frostcharge sig.jpg 11:35, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Who likes it? (*hint* I do)[edit]

I actually think this is a pretty ok sounding skill. I was really hoping for an elite assassin skill that was just an incredibly spammy shadow step, for fun. like: Aura of Displacement: Shadow step to target (1 second recharge, 1/4 second cast, 5 mana). Anyone else think that would be a crazy pve based 1337?--75.37.205.141 05:09, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

It's not that AoD has ever been a bad skill, it just doesn't get used because there's so much more powerful things available (Wastrel's Collapse, for example). Also, shadowsteps aren't nearly as useful in PvE as they are in PvP; you don't really need a spammable one since most PvE mobs only have one or two high-priority targets to deal with, and positioning isn't all that important. tbh, I miss shadowstepping period. Death'schargebull'sstrike, omg. But they've all been killed with fire at this point (except WC, which still doesn't have an aftercast) because anet thought shadowstepping was the issue with every assassin chain that opened with a shadowstep. I mean, I'm sure it wasn't the 1234FATALITY, but the fact that you could instantly move from casting range to melee range. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 20:37, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Lol, miss shadowsteps. That's like saying "I miss the holocaust" or "I miss the cold war". Thanks! NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 20:45, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

They should've been balanced instead of killed, imo. The aftercast makes them completely unplayable in their current state. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 20:56, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
I liked it when you could still teleport across the map. Cast it at point A and run to the other end of the map at point B and get spiked, enchantment drained, teleported to safety. It was great for AB back in the day. DemonicFahrir 11:32, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

im not sure about the first note. I think AoD is limited by obstructions, not distance. could someone check to make sure? --Readem 08:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Big surprise, readem is correct.--129.161.204.121 22:09, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Also the first 2 notes probably could be dropped since they apply to any shadowstep/spell. --129.161.204.121 22:16, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
It's both, and all shadowsteps are. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 0:48, 16 Feb 2011 (UTC)

10e[edit]

Why is this 10 energy? Why not 5 so people would run it over Wastrel's Collapse sometimes? —ǥrɩɳsɧƴɖɩđđɭɘş User Grinshpon blinky cake.gif 00:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Clearly it costs 10e because it's two shadow steps in one. 67.180.237.90 00:26, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Dwarven stability = no ACD[edit]

As far as I know, DS doesnt have an after cast, shouldnt that change the first note? 216.19.115.62 17:55, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Note: Base defenders[edit]

I realise this edit came from here, but it seems to me that the described behaviour is what you'd expect if you cancel AoD during the 1/4 cast of another shadow step. That is, the foe starts the cast, you step away, and are so somewhere else once they complete their cast and so they travel to your new position. I assumed the note about base defenders was causing people to unexpectedly end up in range. I don't see how this is an anomaly or specific to AoD, as other skills also cause interesting effects (like projectiles with an arc that can only be described as impressive) when the target moves a long way away during their cast.
