This Staff is NOT linked to inspiration magic, it varies, as well as the dmg type. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.28.178.233 (talk).

Agreed, I have a Soul Reaping one. I'll change it. --Ctran 09:51, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Looking at those types that drop could it perhaps be the primary attribute/inspiration for mesmers pattern? (75.0.186.25 10:58, 10 June 2009 (UTC))

Salvage Information:[edit]

Salvaged a Req.13 with "Highly Salvagable" Inscription and got 114 Piles of Glittering Dust.

forgot to add the HS inscription, got 21 piles of glittering dust using expert salavage kit from R13 gold cobalt staff - ouch. cecil 12:03, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
got 19 piles from a req13 Moldavite Staff without Measure for Measure inscription. Considering salvage types, odd tendency to be req13, and the similar look of both staves, these probably follow exactly the same salvage pattern. 91.39.195.41 01:42, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Odd name choice...[edit]

Does anyone else find the name of this staff weird? Cobalt is a metal, and for the most part, this staff doesn't look very metallic to me and the parts that are don't have the typical color of cobalt (it's more silver than it is bronze -ish). Additionally, the staff salvages into glittering dust instead of one of the metallic materials which might be typical for a caster weapon but not so much when it's specifically named after a metal. Lastly, the default color of the staff doesn't really give any indication of cobalt either (apart from being somewhat lustrous), most of the cobalt compounds are a cool shade of red or blue (such as Cobalt blue), which is for instance apparent in Cobalt beasts. The staff looks awesome but the name doesn't seem to have any relation to the look. » User Keneth sig.pngKeneth O'Connor, 14:15, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

I kinda agree with ye - i wonder if due to the fact that you can dye it such unusual colors, that you could possibly come out with a truer cobalt blue color? To be honest, it's amazing what one or two different dye (or more) can make this staff look like - but that's about the only thing I can think of atm. The appeal for the staff is imo the colors you can make it/ and how you can match with your character's outfits. But just how they decided on the name and my conjecture comes up short. I actually hit this page link today cos' I wanted to see the single dye chart/ and then try mixing in some multiple color dye to see what comes out. cecil 05:35, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
