Note on the anomaly[edit]

I'm not quite sure if this is even an anomaly. after all, avatar of melandru converts all your attacks to earth damage, so of course conjure lightning would not work in this instance.

Does it happen with other skills that change your damage type? Because if it works with Grenth or Balthazar (or other derv skills that change your damage type) and not Melandru, then it might be a bug...Hyper Cutter 22:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes. Haven't tried with Grenth/Balth but the same happens with skills like Kindle Arrows, Conflagration, and Stone Striker (on self). --Valshia 22:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Death Blossom[edit]

The notes say Death blossom will have additionnal damage on the AoE damage. However, i doubt time. I can't test it at the moment, but if anyone wants to confirm it, i'd appreciate. If it works, i'd like to know why since you're not directly hitting adjacent foes, you're just doing AoE damage. --Kyrax 11:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Just tested it in the Isle. Conjure Lightning does not boost the AoE of Death Blossom. I think it might have something to do with the concise description: "Dual Attack. Deals +20...40...45 damage. Also affects foes adjacent to target foe. Must follow an off-hand attack.". To me that seems as if it would also hit adjacent for attack damage + bonus and that's what I thought until just now. I'll also remove that entry as it doesn't combo any more than with other dual attacks. 86.137.70.195 15:21, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Mechanics Change[edit]

I don't know when, but all the conjure spells no longer hit seperately. It used to be that you would get a hit from your wand/staff/whatever + the conjure spell. I'm glad it is one damage packet, since I can only think of time when hitting twice is bad. StatMan 04:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

You're not the brightest...it was a nerf. Why would you be glad that they all hit as one, now? It, basically, just means you do the same thing but when someone has Protective Spirit up your damage will be reduced. - WeHeartKatamari 21:20, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the personal attack. I'm sure you will delete it. Look at the mantra's, and storm chaser, and the old thunderclap. Three examples where having elemental damage in two packets helps your enemy. You gave one and called it a nerf. Here are two examples, and I'm calling it a neutral. I've yet to see anyone run Mantras in PvP and near certain that no enemies in the storyline use it either. I've only seen Storm Chaser a few times in the game and it's only even been used as a speed boost. Spinal Shiver and its double pretty much mirror the Mantras' usage. Also, since Storm Chaser is the only skill I've ever seen being used, I'll use it as an example. I'd woul much rather give the opponent 1...4...5 energy and strike for (potentially) more damage. I'd say Protective Spirit is on at least 1/3 of the Monks in the game. I'd definitely call it a nerf. And, you don't hit twice, like you said in your first comment on this page. You hit once and the damage strikes separately, so it won't trigger things like Spiteful Spirit, Empathy, etc. Of course, this is all if it counts it as an additional hit of lightning damage. For all I know it could've just striked as one hit, but the damage was separated. That'd make more sense. - WeHeartKatamari 02:50, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Mantra of Earth + Stone Striker = All damage reduced by 40-50%, and getting 2 energy every time you get hit. If people were using this skill, it would be even better. Specifically, what PvP are you talking about? Just HA or GvG? Also, did you forget about thunderclap? It wasn't changed that long ago, and before this 'nerf' you couldn't use conjure lightning with thunderclap. StatMan 03:34, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
I didn't even address Thunderclap because no one has ever used it. Ever. Like in the history of the game. And I meant pretty much all forms of PvP: HA, GvG, AB, RA, TA, CM. Also, That combination is mostly used in PvE for farming/tanking. I don't think I've ever encountered someone who's used that, but I'm sure there must've been a couple. But just simply don't activate Conjure Lightning if you see the target use that combination or switch targets and when Conjure Lightning runs out, then go get him. You mean you didn't use it. I saw people use thunderclap in CM and AB. It worked well against NPC's at shrines, since they bunch up. It also worked well with a shocking short bow. It did not work well with conjure lightning, until this 'nerf'. Also, at the time of this 'nerf', conjure spells did about 1-16 damage, and now they do +5 more, so the amount of damage you lost (shock axe warrior) was in the neighborhood of 10 elemental. The above stone striker and mantra of earth combo doesn't work consistently in PvP, because smart people bring enchantment removal. If there wasn't enchantment removal, then it would be a good build vs many things (taking 1/2 damage and getting 2 energy whenever you get hit has to be useful). So, we can assume there is enchantment removal, which means that protective spirit as well will be stripped off your target. StatMan 03:47, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm really tired atm, but I'll try to prove you wrong again...here goes. For Thunderclap I didn't mean I didn't use it. I meant I've never seen/heard of anyone in PvE OR PvP using it. Before it's buff it was horrible and ridiculously underpowered. This page is about Conjure Lightning not pre-buff Thunderclap. That's great that, in theory, two skills would work great together. However, they've both been changed, so it's impossible. Stay on topic, please. I don't know what you're on about about Conjure's damage... but if you'll look at the history, you'll see on the 17th of July, 2007 it did +7...19...22 lightning damage. Now the current article says it does +5...17...20 lightning damage. Last time I checked reducing a skills damage counts as a nerf, not a buff. Now, the Stone Striker+Mantra of Earth combo is meant for durability and survivability, like you said. Awarding a means of damage mitigation and energy management upon every hit. Setting aside that this combination has very rarely graced any PvP arenas, it is still pales in comparison to Protective Spirit. Mantra+SS only affects the caster. Think about it this way: say I was a spike 'sin and I ran up to spike a squishy. This squishy has the Mantra+SS combo active. I move to the next target. It's just that easy. If there was a Monk with Prot Spirit in the backlines, that's a whole other story. Spikes are supposed to be quick, as well. So unless you want to dance around the target (just begging to get that target protted) for 10 seconds while you wait for an ally to strip all their enchantments you're going to have to move on to the next one. Because Prot Spirit has a 5 second recharge and 1/4 second cast, it will likely follow you around from target to target preventing you from spiking and, in turn, rendering you useless. Btw, I forgot. Mantra at 15 Insp. Magic reduces damage by 50% IF you have SS up. Prot Spirit at 0 Protection Prayers reduces damage by 90% unconditionally. - WeHeartKatamari 06:31, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I have to interrupt. even tho i know this isnt the prot spirit page. prot spirit will ONLY reduce damage by 90 percent CONDITIONALLY. the condition being a single damage packet greater than your total max health minus 1...4 TILDES

(indent reset) I was mentioning that the change from two packets to one packet isn't necessarily a nerf, or wasn't at the time, not the change in damage. If you recall way back, this skill hit twice (once for you attack, once for this effect). Now it doesn't. You have said that this is a nerf, since protective spirit is used often enough, and that it will occasionally reduce the effect this skill has (which I agree with). My point was that a few other skills that an Ele might bring or the enemy might have can make the two damage packets hurt you more. Thunderclap was rarely used. If you were an ele that placed this on a monk, and had a lightning short bow, you could keep the monk floored for the entire duration. Yes, it was a niche build, but I saw it a few times. No it wasn't a build you'd use to go to HA, or GvG. My other point about Protective spirit is that if your team allows it to remain on a target, you should either switch, remove it, or kill the monk. You don't continue attacking someone with protective spirit on them. StatMan 06:14, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm confused[edit]
