Incorrect precedent quest noted in info box?[edit]

When I completed The Krytan Ambassador quest (a few minutes ago), Tydus then offered The King's Message. He had no other quest options available at that moment. Once I completed The King's Message with Ambassador Zain and returned to Ascalon, Tydus then had the quest option for Defend the Wall. This means The King's Message should be the precedent noted in the info box, since you don't get the Defend the Wall quest after completing The Krytan Ambassador but rather after finishing The King's Message, its (chrono)logical followup. I've gone ahead and made a correction as it appears obvious it's an error. If anyone can explain how this isn't a valid correction, please let me know or just mention it in the undo note. Addition: Just brought a fresh troop into Post, skipped Osric's The Krytan Ambassador quest, and went straight to Tydus. He offers The King's Message quest only. Thus, the quest page for The King's Message should, technically, also include Defend the Wall as a followup quest along with the two already noted which you get from Ambassador Zain, as it is the required link (as far as I can tell, the only way) to activate Tydus to offer it. Again...am I missing something. I don't think so, but there are quirks I may not know about. Kruhljak 07:38, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Addition: Okie dokie. I just proved The Krytan Ambassador quest is entirely optional in leading to Defend the Wall, since my test troop never got it from Osric, but now has Defend the Wall from Tydus after completing The King's Message. With this, I'm going to finish correcting/updating the current references on the relevant quest pages. Yet again, if I'm completely misunderstanding how the preceded by and followed by notations work, let me know. Kruhljak 07:43, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Addition: Heh, I have to laugh at myself sometimes. I'm now cluing into the notion that the preceded by and followed by quests indicate "storyline" tracks rather than (necessarily) quest enabling triggers for subsequent quests (including those re unrelated quest lines). Thus, I didn't add Defend the Wall as another followed by entry in The King's Message info block, but rather as a note at the bottom of the page for the sake of completion. Addition: Bleah. No wonder. The preceded by and followed by usage is actually a little inconsistent. Across various quests, there are some that imply logical storyline continuity, but there are also some whose precedent/subsequent quests don't have much, if anything, to do with a logical story progression, i.e. they are unrelated "triggers" to other quests that are linked by desired game design but not by any obvious context. Welp, I'm leaving things as is after my few edits. The corrections I made to this chain are proven valid by my own testing, and the notations added also remain valid either way. See GWW:QUESTS#Quest infobox template and Template:Quest infobox#Parameters for an explanation on the usage of the preceded by and followed by parameters. --Silver Edge 20:04, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
