Captain Osric[edit]

I am not seeing this skill in Yak's Bend. It is unlocked on my account. Any one else verify? Retro77 03:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I am not seeing it on Rohmen in Jokanur Diggings either, and it is not listed on Rohmen's page. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.227.149.189 (talk).
Could you take a screenshot of the Expertise section of Rohmen's "skill window"? It could be that this skill doesn't have a Nightfall trainer. --Silver Edge 04:50, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Nevyn 05:32, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I've corrected the page. --Silver Edge 05:38, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
So... we will still consider this skill as "core" even without a Nightfall trainer? Yoshida Keiji 11:34, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
more likely we just havent found the right guy yet,a lmost everyone had dshot unlocked when nf came out and a lot of the rest unlocked it with jin/margrid, and all the rest are unwilling to buya new account just to find out where to unlock this in nf 24.130.140.36 16:07, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
This skill is considered a Core skill because when you select "Sort by Campaign" in the Skills and Attributes Panel, this skill will be sorted under the "Core" category. According to the GuildWiki Distracting Shot page, the skill trainer in Yohlon Haven, Medando, can unlock this skill (it was added to that page in this 2 July 2007 edit). --Silver Edge 03:59, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Armor Ignoring?[edit]

Trivial thing, but it seems like sometimes the damage from this is armor ignoring...I'll test this in a bit. --Srakin 20:22, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I just tested it out, and it is indeed armor ignoring. Shot each dummy twice, and at 11 expertise it did 12 damage to all.--ҳїתтй 20:33, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. I tested this today and got the same results. ^^ --Srakin 19:35, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

12 armor ignoring damage I can live with. -- Farlong

waste[edit]

Expertise Doesn't make this skill any better[edit]

Really, what is the difference between the damage at 14 expertise to that at 0 expertise? Now, I can subtract as well as the next guy, but I know that it is not much. Instead of increasing the damage, make the disabled duration go from 8..20..23 (8 Additional Seconds at 0 Expertise.. 20 Additional Seconds at 12 Expertise.. 23 Additional Seconds at 15 Expertise) 67.82.179.27 22:30, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

no, dshot is fine exactly how it is, dont fuck up what isn't broken. No 22:34, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
To rephrase that, if they changed this skill, it would mean similar skills like Disrupting Chop, Disrupting Lunge, and Magebane Shot need to be changed. While any positive change in the Magebane line would be useful, it's also noteworthy that Punishing Shot doesn't have much more damage, it's elite, and it doesn't do the disabling. Supporting details for the literature. I mean win. --Chaiyo Kaldor talk contribs 22:39, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Both the non-elite ranger interupts are broken. =\ They cost almost nothing considering expertise, have better effects than their non-elite counterparts and recharge fast enough that you can spam them without worrying about timing. Saying Mesmer is the shut-down profession while these are still the way they are is a bit of a joke. If you're running mesmer, and the other team has a ranger, you can say goodbye to your Diversion and Signet of Humility if their ranger even looks at you. =\ 71.127.159.233 16:12, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
I routinely keep rangers including bots from using any skill for an entire game with e-denial. While ranger is on ether lord and has no regen the mesmer can easily destroy their monk or other casters (e.g.Signet of Humility, Energy drain, ether phantom, drain delusions). Magebane is easily drained for safe ether lord casting or removed with SoH if they waste it on ether lord. Well waste is relative, they are doomed either way, distortion is nasty.MindMaze (talk)
I have to agree. Most ranger builds nowadays are just pure copypasta. There's always Unguent, Natural Stride, Mending Touch, Savage Shot, Distracting shot. Storm chaser or lightning reflexes could be added in, as with a rezz, and the Elites are either Burning, Incendiary, Broadhead or Magebane shot/arrows. Oh, don't forget Apply Poison, too. Diva 05:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow, you sound like me. The reason why Ranger skillbars all look the same is that there are a few non-elite overpowered skills and everything else is just plain stupid or inviable. So you have everyone runnign the same build because everything else sucks and Anet won't do anything about it.

If you have a character that's using a bow, and has primary or secondary ranger profession(wtf are you doing with a bow if you don't? XD), it would be foolish NOT to bring this skill! :O

I use a bow on my Derv to cripple things with Harrier's Grasp. Just thought I'd throw that in there. ;)
[EDIT]: Also, I use a bow on my warrior during AB to keep Adrenaline from dropping, because it's not easy to score a hit every 20 secs running from shrine to shrine with a spear. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 19:46, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

When u list 3 elites that everyone jumped on when the campaign for them was released or when the skills mechanics were changed, u can expect every one to be using them dur. My fav interupt i would have to say is concusion shot but daze isnt all that difficult to interupt and if you disable a monk's WoH you really hit the jackpot since the monks secondary heal typically isnt as powerful aka patient spirit/etheral/whisper--Justice 15:56, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

1/2 activation vs 1/4 activation?[edit]

Does anet assume the other 1/4 second for flight time (hence 1/2 second)? (Terra Xin 05:50, 6 September 2008 (UTC))

An attack hits (leaves the bow, in the case of bow attacks) halfway through its animation; the other half is the return to the neutral state before the beginning of the next attack, or the beginning of aftercast (because ranger interrupts have lots of that). Hope that cleared things up. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 19:38, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Nerf it.[edit]

Disrupting Lunge got nerved from 10 seconds to 20 seconds so why not this skill? First of all it is a bow attack so you just need a bow to acomplish its goal, noone takes it because of the damage. As it is said in notes "It is more or less impossible to interrupt something specific, due to the imprecise nature of pet attacks" which is true and it needs a pet which takes another skill slot. Roxas XIII 12:34, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

That was just some ridiculous change which made the skill nearly useless, and dshot is perfect as it is . Raemon 06:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

true. And not skill to prevent interrupt this is stupid I remove this idiot game. Its imposible normal playing with overpower Shockwave and DShots. By by stupid Guild Wars this is end for me. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.75.130.2 (talk) at 10:35, 2012 June 23 (UTC).

If you find Shockwave overpowered, maybe you could Dshot it? --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 10:55, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Related Skills[edit]

While I suppose you could make an argument for PD, Power Lock really isn't related to this. I'd also say that Punishing, Savage, and Disrupting aren't related besides being ranger interrupts. I'm not sure if there's an article somewhere that more clearly explains what skills should be dubbed "related," though. -Prose 19:27, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Is the Disabling conditional?[edit]

Will skills like Glyph of Concentration prevent the interruption and the disabling of the skill? 178.33.169.41 02:43, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
