Talk:Gain Olias

What should we do if quests were taken out of the game like this quest. Also this quest is listed on the game integration page and has a game link to it. --Sktbrd341 04:23, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

I think historical content should be kept. - BeX 05:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Is anyone interested in proposing a formal legacy article / historical content policy? -- Gordon Ecker 05:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Just make a change proposal to Guild Wars Wiki:Article retention, IMO MisterPepe talk 06:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree we should make some kind of proposal and still keep these quests listed if more are that because it was part of the game once. --Sktbrd341 06:06, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion[edit]

Should be deleted since there is no such quest anymore and therefore, this page will not be used.--Eloc 05:41, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

We should not delete this page because there is no proper policy on this type of situation. If others agree for not deleting this until we figure out what should be done please post here. --Sktbrd341 06:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Sktbrd341, we should wait for a legacy article policy or an amendment to the article retention policy. -- Gordon Ecker 06:45, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I also agree for same reasons. Tedium 07:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
But why keep it? It's only taking up bandwith and who would view it? It's not like people would be looking for the page to help them during their quest, because they can't because this quest no longer exists.--Eloc 08:00, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Bandwidth gets wasted more on guild and user pages than on this, so that isn't a valid reason. I know that I've needed to read this before (I used gwiki though because this hadn't been made) because I wanted Olias on some Prophecies characters and didn't know why Figo wouldn't give me the quest. It was only when I read the gwiki version of this page that I found out it had been replaced, when it had been replaced and what it had been replaced by. That alone is a good reason to keep it. - BeX 08:18, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Well now when people go look for it, they won't even need to see this page. It is fully replaced by now. I bet you alot of people don't even know what quest this is.--Eloc 08:19, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
It was originally the quest to get the hero Olias. You would talk to Lionguard Figo, then you would go out into North Kryta Province and fight some Margonite Sorcerers. You would then take Olias' letter of resignation to the mission briefing NPC in D'Alessio Seaboard. See? I remember it all off the top of my head - articles like this should be kept, imo. --Santax (talk · contribs) 08:22, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Eloc, my point was, I went to Figo and he didn't have the quest. How was I supposed to know you have to go to the docks to get it? I went to the Gain Olias article, because I knew the quest name, and it told me. - BeX 10:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
How in the world are they wasting bandwidth if nobody loads them to view it? And a page like that comprises an insignificant percentage of the hard disk space available on the GWW server. Unless we plan on changing our scope to "document the game of Guild Wars as it currently is there's no reason at all to delete it. By proposing deletion, do you realise that you're also implying that special event articles like the Canthan New Year 2007, all the separate Wintersday articles, Halloween, etc. be deleted as well, since you can no longer access those year-specific events. -- ab.er.rant sig 16:30, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Seeing as I just did this quest ten minutes ago, it should certainly be kept. I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who still had it in their quest logs. —Tanaric 15:50, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Gain Zenmai is the same. A few of my characters had both quests still, but I deleted most of them. :P - BeX 02:40, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I vote to keep it; I used it today when I dusted off my assassin. We are only talking about a handful of pages here, and as long as it is not a burden on the wiki, I think keeping it around is the right thing to do.Stan Thompson 22:26, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Mursaat in Tryria? Tyria and Inscriptions?[edit]

Hmmm...was it with help of this quest possible to acquire gold Mursaat skin Items without inscriptions and oldschool inherent mod? (Well, i'm a friend of inscriptions at all, as they are an advantage play-mechanical seen, but would be interesting to know, though)ZerphatalkThe Improver 19:49, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

WHY[edit]

Why on earth did they delete this quest way back? I own NF but say I don't wanna do through NF to get a guy who is essenstially a prophecies hero... - 69.248.175.25 04:29, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

I agree. It's annoying to have to go through 'hoops' for a hero like Zenmai or Olias. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:20, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Video of Quest[edit]

Saw that I had the quest and wanted to unlock Olias so I did it and filmed it. The quest was super boring, so it makes sense it was replaced. Here's a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLrLWPl0pjY Stexe (talk) 17:15, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
