It's kind of stupid to describe something when a picture could do so much more. Pictures paint a thousand words. Ridiculous. Sirocco 16:49, 16 April 2007 (EDT)

Does this mean Hard mode will be out this week? ^_^ ~ Zero rogue x 16:06, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

thats what i thought too! --Gummy Joe 18:20, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

Heh, I posted essentially the same note on gwiki. I presume that it would since its mentioned in the update. Also, Gaile has said that she thinks it will be released this week. Lojiin 18:21, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

Sounds like awesome pies to the max! Hopefully hard mode will come out before the weekend though. I want my people know me title ASAP >_< (Too bad I have two lame arse tests thursday, nuu. Physics test coming up soon too. Anywho, hardly the place. Hard mode ftw! --Omigawa 20:42, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

April 19, 2007[edit]

Within a matter of hours Does that mean Hard Mode will be here later today? Kind of sounds like it to me, since tomorrow is more than a few hours from today. --Mwpeck 14:07, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

EU news too?[edit]

I noticed that recently EU news has been popping up here and wondering why wasn't this added sooner? EU and US gw sites both use english so are we going to start adding in more EU news too? This may benefit more users.--198.146.56.62 10:44, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

It isn't anything planned either way - I think that if someone happens to notice something and is at a loose end they edit it in. Feel free to be the EU news editor ;) User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 11:02, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

Contest[edit]

Holy. Shit. I. Want. That. PC. Cuz. Mine. Sucks.

I'm hoping for another woot! moment, like that time I won a raffle in my old school for a preordered copy of HP5. User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 17:12, 17 May 2007 (EDT)

I currently don't even have a computer that will run GuildWars. I'm hoping I win something at least. -- File:Blackgeneralstar.png (General | Talk) 17:24, 17 May 2007 (EDT)

Page is getting rather long. Create archives and leave all updates of this and the previous month on the page? —MarkL User MarkL Heart.png (talk - contribs) 19:35, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

June 27,2007[edit]

"In advance of significant Guild Wars news coming your way very soon...." I am guessing that this is will be the annoucement of the new game that is coming out soon, and by very soon they must mean this week, as the 3rd quarter is july 1st - sep 30th --Gummy Joe 14:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, there's the preview event which might be very soon, there's the expansion itself which will be later, and there's also a third project they are working on of which we have no details on. I'm hoping that the "significant GW news" will include info on that 3rd project. Alaris 14:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Bonus Mission Pack

What about those of us that don't have $30 dollars worth of merchandise at the online store that can still be purchased? I've already bought all the PvP unlock packs and all the campaigns. The $4.99 Game of the Year Weapons pack doesn't cut the $30 mustard. Don't tell me I simply can't ever find out what happened to Gwen! I want this content too! Jkyarr 20:26, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

What irritates me the most is that the content isn't permanent. "The Guild Wars Mission Pack will be made available between November 1 and November 30, 2007 to all accounts that spend $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Official Guild Wars (online) Store between 12 p.m. (Noon) PST July 5, 2007 and 12 p.m. (Noon) PST October 31, 2007." I really hope I'm wrong, but it sounds like you only have one month to enjoy the content. I might as well skip it. =( By the way, if you haven't already, you could buy character slots(probably the first thing you thought of, though). Kite 20:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
The missions is not available only during that timeframe, they are indefinite. Stated by Gaile over at GWO. The dates are just there to say "we are releasing the access to these missions during this timeframe" - anja talk 22:27, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I have to agree with jkyarr, although I'm lucky i only have 19 total character slots and can buy some more, maybe Anet giving the mission pack to people who have spent a certain amount from the store aswell as the $30, because i dont *really* want to buy any more character slots Hime-chan 16:08, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

I overlooked GW:EN, which will certainly be available between now and the end of this promotional period. So this is Anet's way of getting us to buy from their online store. Personally I'm ok with that.

Hehe, that's definitely a relief. Kite 00:35, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
A lot of people on the forums are asking whether it will be available as a regular online store purchase or will be available exclusively through the limited-time promotion. I strongly suspect the former possibility, but there hasn't been an official statement yet. -- Gordon Ecker 00:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, if they did sell it in a store purchase, they'd realize that no one is going to buy it for $29 when they can "buy" it for $29 and get stuff too. If they sell it for less than $29, then those that only want the bonus missions will buy it without stuff, and Anet could have had an extra, what, $5 for each purchase? Those'll add up fast. However, if they sell it for $29, they could squeak some money out of the people who have already bought everything. Kite 00:55, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

There's a right price for everything, based on what it's worth. 4 missions, probably 5-10$. Slap in a title or two and some heroes, you can push 15-20$ tops. That'll make a lot of people happy, namely those who don't plan on getting GW:EN from the online store. Alaris 16:42, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Meh, I was just saying they could make a bit more money by doing the way they're doing it now. I don't really know what Anet values more: giving customers a gift that many people will never notice(or, alternatively, will not care about), or a little extra profit margin. Kite 16:49, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
You can't run a business without thinking about profit. That's just common sense. However, ANet has often stated that in the long run, their business is based on consumer loyalty. Getting consumers to switch over to online purchases can mean a significant increase in their profit margin, i.e., in how much profit they make per product sold. This, BTW, translates into a stronger company that can take greater risks in order to deliver what the community wants. So in many ways, consumers also benefit from this move. And it kills fewer trees.
ANet also knows that they need to balance that against other consumer pressures, such as those who don't have access to credit cards, and those who want the packaging regardless, and possible *hurt* feelings some consumers may develop if their needs aren't met. It's not as simple as which option will make you more money. In the end, it's trying to predict what will be best for everyone. As a psychologist, I know that's a difficult task. Alaris 16:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, I can definitely see your point. Kite 18:35, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

1 minute and 56 seconds? the ipod mp4 duration was 1 minute and 49 seconds but the GW:EN trailer was nice and only increases my eagerness to buy Eye of the North.--Bane of Worlds 22:17, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

July 30, 2007[edit]

So NOW they say that is possible. I needlessly spent more money in the GW Online Store paying in stupid British Pounds, when I could have been charged in US Dollars through the PlayNC store because I'm currently in the US and that store prices you according to IP. Unlike the retarded Online Store which groups Aussies into paying in British Pounds. Sirocco 18:41, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

July 31, 2007[edit]

In the finalist list, one says Razortongue. There's already a Razortongue in the game. I don't see how that entry got through to the finals. Some of the others were pretty good though. Sirocco 18:41, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

New news item added "Guild Wars Game Card Players" with a link to here, only lists non-GW games at time of posting. Just wondering if additonal GW char slots will become available via this method at same point? 06:56, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Jan 6, '09[edit]

This wasn't news or even an interview, it was a BLURB (quoting for anyone who can't navigate that website):
Jeff Grubb, designer and writer for Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2: "Creating choice without sacrificing the experience of the game itself. In earlier games, we've seen a lot of very linear plot lines. In adding more plots, we create a situation where there is missed content which is generation (time and money spent), but not shown (sort of like outtakes for your personal story). I think this will be where the growth in storytelling in games will be – as we learn how to tell stories using the new tools available to us."
...also noteworthy: atleast half of their article respondents all appeared to be /Rule34/tards. --ilr 06:00, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh, you are right! They had some problems yesterday with some caching thing for the news, which broke the RSS feed a bit; I guess it's somehow related to that. I'll tell Emily later. poke | talk 13:13, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

May 5th, 2011[edit]

Man, why is the sale for extra char slots so late...? The preceding 3 sales are items that I feel ppl would have already purchased if they wanted it, regardless of the price tag. While I don't need an extra char slot, it does give me more storage and is a better deal than the storage pane upgrade. Oh wells, I'm sure there's a method to their madness. --8765 18:05, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
