Haha, nice find! xD

The irony/hypocrisy on this site is sometimes more than I can physically comprehend :/ Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 04:06, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

What do you mean by that? The goal of the wiki is to document the game, is it not? Vili 点 User talk:Vili 04:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Arenanet does not allow you to make mention of religious figures in-game...even in a private conversation you can be banned for it, yet we document it on their wiki. Actually on this wiki, I have been asked numerous times to change my name...I just find it ironic. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 14:15, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Deletion[edit]

WTF? "Arenanet does not allow you to make mention of religious figures in-game"? What are you smoking? Why wouldn't they allow it? Please make some sense. --JonTheMon 16:08, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

ummmm where in the eula does it say no religious talk? shouldnt all those christian guilds then be banned? i smell BS --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 16:15, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Try putting a religious figure's name in your character's name. Also, spam Muhammad or Jesus (with nothing defaming along with it) in a crowded place and see how long of a ban you get. It happens. That's all I'm saying. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 16:20, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Did you get banned for saying those names or for spamming? and I'd imagine a name like "Jesus Lightbringer" wouldn't attract too much attention. --JonTheMon 16:23, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Even if true, there's no reason to delete this redirect. --User Brains12 circle sig.png Brains12 \ talk 16:26, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Your first example is a violation of Naming Policy, not the Rules of Conduct per in game activities. Second, you can get blocked for spamming anything in local chat, regardless of content. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 16:27, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it is against the naming policy to use a religious figure's name, but it also seems to be against Conduct. I was banned a little over a year ago for saying "Jesus Christ!" after I lost a FA match. Nothing else. Just the name. Got a 3 day ban. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 16:40, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Still, along with what Brains said, that does not constitute the deletion of a redirect. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 16:47, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't the one that suggested deletion. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 16:48, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I know that, however the reason for deletion was "Arenanet does not allow you to make mention of religious figures in-game"." It was pulled from a quote by you, so we just wanted some clarification. That's all. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 16:51, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
/me opposes deletion, etc. – Emmett 19:19, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
That could be construed as speaking the Lord's name in vain, and/or a derogatory remark (no matter how slight) at the victorious team, even if they couldn't see it; people have been banned for even less, like "hell" or "damn". Moreover, I think it's important to note that ArenaNet's in-game policies are not the same as the wiki's deletion policies (or article retention policies). It is true that ANet hsa the final say over any matters of dispute here, since they own the servers. But, barring an all-out legal challenge, it is the wiki community that decides what goes. I don't see anything in those policies which forbids this page. It is a very real term that people continue to use in Guild Wars, just like Kurdick. (And you can certainly get banned for that, too!) Vili 点 User talk:Vili 19:34, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) So do we have consensus for retaining this redirect? --JonTheMon 13:54, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

I haven't seen anyone that agreed with the deletion and neither do I, its a very real term and should stay. The person who tagged it didnt show up in this discussion either so. --SilentStorm Talk to me 14:04, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
