Don't have to Kill the Coasairs[edit]

Alright so I managed to actually get my whole party (myself and my heroes) past the wall of cosairs at the start of the mission by using that technique suggested on the page, then got my heroes across using a similar method by flagging them back and forth across the cosairs. I then actually managed to finish the mission without having to kill them. I guess it's not required to kill them in order to complete the mission. Although this information is probably useless in the long run, I suppose someone might just find this interesting, hahah. -- Brendan12303 User Brendan12303 Star.jpg 21:24, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

3/4 becoming 4/4[edit]

"Even though you follow all instructions perfectly for the bonus, it may only register three as being completed, meaning you will need to restart the mission if you want the bonus. However, by waiting for the first bonus to update, this bug will not appear, and you will get 4/4 of the bonus."

It's unclear what this note is trying to clarify. As written, it contradicts itself: it says "you need to restart" and "you will get 4/4" (suggesting no restart required).

  • Is it still possible to follow each suggestion perfectly and yet get less than 4/4?
  • If it is, under what circumstances does "waiting" change it to 4/4, e.g. where do you have to wait? Is it any of the four suggestions? Or just the last one?

In the latest ZM cycle, I thought I had followed the suggestions perfectly and got a "3/4" message. However it turned out that one of the runners still had 10 health when I called the other. I wasn't able to see this until I turned the corner and saw him catching his breath. Similarly, anyone I've helped with the mission always thought they finished 4/4 perfectly, but after a post mortem (or doing the missions with guildies), they realized that they had made a mistake (among the more common ones: after killing the runners, letting minions or EVAS aggro the Corsairs in the base camps; letting the Corsair Patrol pass, but then killing the toxic spirit; and letting one of the runners get within shout range of their camp before he dies.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:54, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

"The bonus is to follow the advice that Dunkoro offers at various points through the mission. There are 4 suggestions, the notification of which sometimes comes quite late and the update of the success of the objective is sometimes a long way after you followed the suggestion."
The "bug" is already described in the bonus overview. In the first of all suggestions, if you turn left side of the water pool as in towards the waterfall, you will not be taking the right-side path so Dunkoro will not be giving the first suggestion (logicaly) and by taking the ramp from where the corsair patrol comes...the first suggestion is considered as "followed". The quest log will update properly after taking down the two runners.
I would say that the official bug, is present on the second suggestion (and this mission page would need another of my overhaul cutdowns), it is currently stated incorrect. You can kill that patrol anytime. When Dunkoro is implying to hide, there is no need to follow that suggestion to get the bonus rewards. HM Bonus With HH[edit]

There's a lot of discussion on this page about the bonus, but it is pretty straightforward.

1. Head toward the eastern path after killing the initial Corsairs. Kill Mandragors as you go. When you trigger Dunkoro's first suggestion, fall back into the water. Kill all remaining Mandragors in the water and post your party by the waterfall as suggested in multiple other posts.

2. With your party flagged by the waterfall, one character should start up the ramp on the west side, which will trigger Dunkoro's second suggestion. As soon as he starts talking, fall back to the waterfall with the rest of your party. Wait for the Corsair patrol to come all the way down the ramp. Once all of the patrol is in the water, you can safely engage and kill them and still earn that part of the bonus.

3. Head up the ramp the Corsair patrol just came down. Hug the East wall when you reach the top of the ramp as Dunkoro suggests with his 3rd suggestion.

4. As you approach the Corsair Runners, stop and pull the bugs toward you. The bugs can - and should be defeated before you engage the runners. Flag your party back a bit then have a puller hug the left wall and come into aggro range of the bugs. You will not have triggered Dunkoro's fourth suggestion if done properly. The bugs will chase and you can pull them to the rest of your party, leaving only the two runners. One hero with a snare should target the closest runner as has already been suggested. Have the party begin the attack on that runner while you engage the other. You must have a snare for the second runner as part of your skill bar. The 7 HH group will be more than enough to take care of the first runner. If you haven't already killed the second runner, the rest of the party will engage when the first runner is dead.

I ran a W/R through here with YMLAD and Pin Down for snares and a 20th level pet. I brought Zhed with Water Magic snares for the HH group. I filled out the party with two Discordway Necros, Dunkoro set for Smite/Heal, Gwen - Panic Domination Mesmer, Razah - SoS Spiritspammer, and Xandra - SoGM and more spirits.

Good luck and good hunting. Cyryl Chevalier 00:37, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Good, effective advice. Especially for the fourth suggestion. Take Tryptophan Signet, YMLaD, and Binding Chains (if possible) on the player. Flag the Heroes, open their skill bars, set their targets to the nearest runner. Select the farther runner and clear the Heroes' flag which will get them running to their runner and attacking him. Click Tryptophan Signet to have the player run up to the runner to within range to cast it. Wait a second and cast Binding Chains or YMLaD and attack the runner. The rest of the team will defeat their runner and come in to help finish off the player's runner. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 50.89.105.61 at 15:06, 29 May 2022 (UTC).

Not sure how long Nightfall has been out but I am still completely unable to do bonus even on Normal mode. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.166.43.37 (talk) at 16:26, 7 November 2014 (UTC).

Nightfall has been out since October 26, 2006, just over 8 years prior to your comment. Yes, it is meant to be a challenge. After I kill the bugs, I have my champion Any/A build with Death's Charge shadow step to them before Dunkoro utters anything about them. Use Sprint or Charge! on the warrior hero and you should kill them. A word of caution, once you get the 4 out of 4, don't go exploring! If you run into the mandragors you were not suppose to encounter, it will remove a task and you will have to start over again. --Wendy Black 08:56, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Anet needs to reduce the masters requirement to 3/4. Petition![edit]
