Male Legs[edit]

Nice leggings on the male version, too bad I'm not homosexual. Ninjas In The Sky 18:06, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Eh, I'm really not fond of the whole "Let's Use Ectoplasm to Somehow Implant Raw Obsidian Directly Into Our Organic Tissues"* look, myself. Either for cuteness or coolness on self or others. OTOH, I'd probably never play a boy necro due to the Slouch of Doom they have, so.
(*Any speculation on how this works, anyway?) --Star Weaver 19:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Slouch of Doom? I didn't get that. Ninjas In The Sky 19:06, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I've seen it look cool with the elite profane leggings and boots, but the elitists won't look as rich that way << Firoas. talk 11:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Big, fat waste of money, just like assassin obby armor Valion Sentis 15:31, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

PublicHero Definitely not a waste of money, Obsidian is designed for the character you enjoy for the most, if characters*... And so what, i've had my Male nec obby for a while now and i still like wearing it full. The legs arent great as i would rather them changed, but fates fate. just don't go blow your money on something you don't necesseraly like, like some people and the War FoW.--PublicHero

Different model in towns[edit]

Any idea why (other players') Necromancer Obsidian armors sometimes show a different model/skin? It's not just a "low res" version of the normal armor, but a completely different design. I mean this: http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6940/gw060.png as opposed to this: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Necromancer_Obsidian_armor_f.jpg Ctarl 08:19, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

The first image looks like an armor modded with TexMod. Did you take the screenshot yourself or did you find it somewhere? - anja talk 08:36, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I made it myself and TexMod wasn't running. I've encountered this anomaly from time to time ever since the release of Prophecies in 2005. The interesting thing is, it always only happens in towns/outposts and only on other peoples characters. I've got a necromancer with Obsidian armor myself and have never encountered this on my own(!) necro, BUT I've seen screenshots made by other(!) people which show my necromancer in the "different" armor style. And I just found an older screenshot I took shortly after the release of EotN (notice me on the right with the "correct" version, the other necromancer with the different style; I did not edit this picture, this is "what I saw" ingame) http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/4742/gw635.png Ctarl 12:32, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
O_o. Looks like they took the town low-res texture from an older version of the armor, one that was a bit more like the male version. Maybe they forgot to replace a beta/mock-up texture for that? It looks like it might be a little less detailed aside from the low-ressedness. --Star Weaver 13:04, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
That's what I thought at first. But that would mean that they implemented two low-res versions as you can see low-res versions of the normal skin in towns, too. Very weird. Ctarl 16:51, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I kinda like this mistake O.o 76.212.213.180 04:11, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Having the same problem as you, but it also happens with Warrior Obsidian Armor [1]Kinda sucks, but I'm glad to hear that it dosen't affect your own armor--Wohlert 15:12, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

i think this armor is gonna rock in GW2 shipped from HoM--Hubbard User Hubbard sig icon.png The Dervish 20:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, thats if the Armor was Shipped over! But it isent.--Neil2250 , Render Lord User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 13:37, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Late, soooo late, so very late. But this is your problem. The game is(Sometimes) importing the low-res for the male skin effects from Obsidian. The line down the belly is likely either something they later in development hid or it could belong somewhere else because the male and female models might have slightly different mapping. I got the hint when I saw the detail around the wrists and ankles, and knew I had seen that somewhere. As for the warrur fow glitch, that's just that texture not rendering. (almost) All armors are shiny silver underneath, to get that sheen that Anet thinks every armor needs for some reason(Even my dervish cloth parts have a shine, especially the Istani hood). Anyway, that's the problem if anyone in 2011/2012 is wondering.--GerrohUser Gerroh GerrohEmblem.gif 01:56, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
