Talk:Oversized Tonic Warning
LOL. I love carebears. - Auron 11:16, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- wat? --Cursed Angel 11:19, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I (and many others) trolled some huge carebears, who seemed to be suffering from the delusion that you had to see the mad king to enjoy the halloween event. They, being huge carebears, whined alot, and we, being equally huge trolls, trolled them on their whine threads (that one in particular gets good around page 4 - highly recommended read).
- Anet, being afraid of telling carebears to stop being so enraptured by anything on the internet, evidently plans to put this in so we can't make people cry by blocking their view of the mad king (or any holiday NPCs, apparently). - Auron 11:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I am sorely disappointed that I won't be able to see a golem at this event. I have never seen a golem before and like to see them in my way. It looks hilarious when they die when they get things wrong during Mad King says. At least I have been told so, having never seen a golem. Misery 11:42, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- lol arenanet gives in to ppl who cry about stupid things, should still go with boreal tonic, think it's big enough. --Cursed Angel 22:49, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- You can see them if they dont get close to an avatar. As they move close to an avatar, they become a Snowman, but as they move away, GOLEM again! --Burning Freebies 17:28, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Snowmen are kinda big, too - so if they stand around them, you won't see them either :/ But nevertheless nobody is interested in standing around them - they just want to stand on the circles. poke | talk 20:16, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- @Auron and the rest of the trolls from us carebears: Part of the RoC entails not intentionally ruining other people's enjoyment of the game. The fact that Mad King Thorn is one of the most animated and entertaining NPC's in the game makes him fun to watch, not to mention for those of us geeky enough to track patterns in his rock-papper-scissors maneuvers watching him also serves a purpose. The fact that you and others like you revel in spoiling something that others enjoy says much more about you than about those of us who, as you put it whine. Grow up. -- Wyn/talk 21:04, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen the screenshots from the event. The change is merited. The only objection I have to this effect is it should simply disable the appearance of the tonic, so they get nothing positive from getting too close, but not remove the effect, so as to keep people from quaffing a new tonic right away. Making it turn em into the result of another tonic is sure to be exploited for something (possibly entertaining and probably without spoiling anyone's fun at the same time, but why leave doors open that way?). Hmm... for the mad king, might be most proper if he were to simply smite anyone who entered his personal space.... (auto-ressing you shortly after at whatever handy res shrine is in the town...) Alas, but such hard handed tactics will not be appropriate for all event NPCs. 71.208.175.76 02:40, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I still dont see why my tonic has to change into a snowman, which is just as big as the other "Oversized tonics" as poke mentioned. It blocks out Dwayna and Grenth just as much as the tonics it changes. Why not change into a Grentch? They are small. --Burning Freebies 16:47, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

- How retarded does anet have to be? Did it ever come to mind to just put mad king on a platform or something? God their thinking is so narrow. btw, me shard yasmin and armond were the reason they put this in. thats awesome. --adrin 01:32, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Effect on "new" tonics[edit]
Has anyone see any information into how this affects the "newer" tonics such as the Zaishen Tonic or the Mysterious Tonic? The skill description is still the same and only mention the four tonics that were "oversized" back then. Now that we have huge forms, such as the Saltspray Dragon Form, are these forms affected too? ~Celestia 12:03, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think the new ones are, because I say a person disguised as a Crystal Spider sitting right on top of The Mad King. Thrain | talk 15:23, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Got a char half-sized with a Rainbow Phoenix Form. Elephant 16:26, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Concise Description[edit]
Why is the concise description longer than the non-concise one? -- Lacky 07:43, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Because it doesn't lack of information Elephant 19:24, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, however it has more. -- Lacky 22:08, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Warning near players[edit]
Did anyone else notice that during halloween players disguised as Mad King Thorn had the oversized tonic warning around them? I found that quite funny. I didn't check if it changed affected tonic forms. 82.143.219.87 12:49, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
