Talk:Penis

-I say that it not be deleted, as it was completely un-biased and anyone searching for that particular word will be looking for nothing more anyhow. :|

I think this article was quite humorous, but I don't know if it's considered offensive or not. I don't find it offensive, and would like to put it in, say Humour or speculation categories. But it's just my personal opinion, and I don't know about what's considered offensive by the community. - Anja Astor Anja Astor (talk) 08:14, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
I thought it was a hoot, although I don't find such topics offensive in the slightest. We should probably aim for for the same rating as the game in the wiki, but I don't know what that means for pages such as this. --Aspectacle 08:17, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
I just read up about the Teen rating that Guild Wars has, though I'm no expert in English. (It's easily found here) I think this is one of those hard-to-decide cases :/ It's not clearly sexual content, but it is somewhat.. Gah. I'll let someone else look at it. - Anja Astor Anja Astor (talk) 08:21, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
It is my opinion that such a page, wether offensive or not, is not needed because it does contain absolutely no information needed for the game. Perhaps that "vandalism" is not the right word for it, but it was my first thought of this page. - MSorglos 08:23, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
I fully agree with Aspectacle, though this was a topic that tried to be humorous, we should indeed aim for the same age rating Guild Wars has. Not everyone overhere has the age of 20+ (not that i think you have to be 20+ to talk about or see the word penis though... just an example age :p) - Saelfaer 08:27, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

- If you were to say that it must be deleted due to it's lack of "needed" information, then I suggest much of the lore section be removed also. It contains speculative information that is not necessary for gameplay.

This is a joke article, it neither belongs nor needs to be in the main namespace. If anyone wants to keep it, feel free to move it to userspace somewhere. If someone complains about it even in userspace, we can then have this discussion seriously with the entire community. --Dirigible 08:30, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
Lore describes game history and gives background informations. In my opinion we don't need explanations for Penis or e.g. have a baby. (edit conflict) I agree that this article can be used in userspace, but not needed in mainspace. - MSorglos 08:34, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
Haters...
I agree with Dirigible; it was very slightly humorous (ie Rurik) but is something that should go into userspace. Let's face it, with slight variations of key words, keeping this opens up the door for articles on Masturbation, Paedophilia, Necrophilia. Whatever floats your boat, but it has no place in Mainspace. Just as every high school has prepubescent boys sniggering ovber The Dictionary of Slang, every wiki will have its gremlins who add these kind of immature articles User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 08:36, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

This should not be deleted because it contains references to sex and adult themes, however it should be deleted because it is made up almost entirely of speculation (and as we all know, speculation has no place in the main namespace, it should be restricted to talk pages). --Xeeron 12:41, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Delete - completly sick and has no place in GWW.--Eloc 13:00, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Of course it is delete. You simply can't encourage stuff like this in the main space which has nothing to do with documenting the game. I still think it is a bit of fun thou. --Aspectacle 17:07, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Why does the talk page still exist? Sirocco 17:19, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Talk pages are preserved when a page is deleted. Mainly so that the reason for the delete (and any discussion that might have happened around it) will still be avaible later. --Xeeron 17:31, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

deletion of the talk page[edit]

I disagree with the delete for the reason mentioned a line above. --Xeeron 11:15, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I disagree with deletion as well. It does nothing but hide a semi-useful talk page from the public, which is more harmful than helpful. -Auron 11:20, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Concur with above. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 19:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
How is removing this "hiding"? It's not like this page is very visible or that the average user would just type "Talk:Penis" in their url bar just for the heck of it. Users who don't think it's funny to vandalize wiki pages or post nonsense/joke articles will not try and see if there's a page on penises on this wiki. This will neither prevent nor dissuade anyone from creating a new penis article if they are bent on "having fun" on the wiki. Removing their article and slapping a warning or a ban is more effective. And if other users want to our deletion criteria for articles, they'll naturally ask other users or on the CP talk page, and we point them to policies, not obscure talk pages. I can see why you may want to retain this talk page for maybe a week or so after that silly article got deleted. But it's been over half a year. I don't see it as even remotely semi-useful half-a-year ago and it's definitely not useful now. -- ab.er.rant sig 03:41, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Aberrant: deleting a page does not make it disappear. Deletion hides a page so only sysops can view it. -Auron 04:31, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
What makes you think I don't know that? Unless you're saying talk pages like this are for sysops to read so they can then look up the deleted article and see the reasoning for deletion? Other users who chance upon pages like this would only have a vague idea of what the article would've contained and would not really get a clear understanding of why the deletion took place. -- ab.er.rant sig 14:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
What makes me think you don't know it? How about "How is removing this "hiding"?" -Auron 14:08, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh... whoops, my bad. -- ab.er.rant sig 14:10, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Not that deletion matters much one way or the other. But how is this useful? Backsword 04:29, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
The article should stay here, so the next time someone feels that the wiki should report on how Cynn always runs around naked with oversized breasts on the test servers on [[Cynn's boobs]], we don't have to have a discussion like the one above again, but can simply point to this talk page. --Xeeron 15:27, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
This talk page is awsome --Cursed Angel 14:43, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
