nasty beasts...by far a-nets worst in my books so far--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Kkagari (talk).

I think they are straight-up awesome. --- Warrior Raptors
I think they are easy to beat. — Eloc 04:46, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
True, these guys are more tedious to fight than really dangerous, if you have a full party. They block all the time, but spells will still damage them, and their Critical Defenses eventually wears off. Unlike other dinosaurs they also don't have Twisting Jaws, which is annoying AND deadly at the same time. Just make sure to kill them before taking on other mobs in the area, because them joining in the fun usually means trouble. -- Hong 05:44, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
How weird, I just noticed that the article lists them as having Twisting Jaws. Well, I've certainly never seen it, and I've fought plenty of them in the process of farming Asura rank. Removing until someone can show otherwise. -- Hong 05:46, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I Agree[edit]

they are pretty sick. but ive got to the point where if i run into them i just rage quit. i cant be arsed to sit the fighting a small group on them for 15-20mins because i have got a farming build as my main char. Anet have really outdone themselves with this one but i think they need to take a nurfing.

1. they run around in packs - fair enough nothing wrong with that 2. they all use critical defenses - which means you WILL get pwnd each & everytime u run into a group of them unless your skill bar is full of enchantment removal spam or you can spam empathy or inteptitude like 100 times in one go.

because of of that skill it makes them grosely overpowerd. it is a challenge trying to kill them but to to imprve your chances of survival & also to save time & effort spent crying over because your attacks cant hit & 1 buy 1 their butchering your team to the end of devon then stick a farm build on.

but also by doing this you also open up another can of worms by not being propperly skilled up to fight in other areas or other types of enemies because your build is too reliant on enchantments....

hence there is no way of really fighing them effectively unless its KDs over n over again e.g. yeti smash etc or use some enchanment removal skills WARNING: Avatar of Grenth (dervish) wont help you as i think the skill is bugged out. 'next time you use a skill the foe loses 1 enchantment' it doesnt ALWAYS work. & im not too sure if you have to actually hit the target to trigger it. but meh - a good derv skill is Rending AURA which will remove their enchantments as they attack you - so for the good of your team DONT RUN AWAY WHILE USING THIS SKILL!! let them mob you. 2ndly make sure you got an SS necro handy. they will go down in no time with SS - but then having SS on your skill bar JUST dedicated to fighting raptors is a little extreme. & chances are SS wouldnt totally suit the area that your entering - being GWEN your probably going to be a long drawn out journey to some place half way across the map just so u can do some small unimportant quest such as chasing a bear halfway across the map.

so remember - the advice here is roll a farm build, get an SS necro with defile enchantment & enchantment removal etc.

they need to get nurfed

tho a prot monk with aegis or any skill where you & your party can block attacks for a short space of time may help as critical defences only lasts a few seconds without a critical hit. but dont quote me on it. everything is hit & miss theres not garantee that their critical defences will expire by them time your prot enchanment wears off.... another way is to try S.visage & A.Visage to drain their energy till they can no longer spam their skills but if they already cast Critical enchantments then that will stay up reguardless of their energy level until they can no longer get a critical hit.

but as i said earlier...

SS, SV, AV are only ever used on farm builds.

I will probably get flamed, heavily critasized on my atitude & most possibly called a noob but any1 whose been up against raptors knows its not as simple as black n white.

so I hope this little flame/rant/advice/ heads up has givin you some sort of idea to improve your chances of survival 62.56.95.238 17:38, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Just bring blinding surge, it owns them because it's aoe when they are enchanted. And don't focus on melee damage, use casters. --66.45.173.98 18:48, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
122.108.124.65 08:24, 10 December 2008 (UTC)What a load of old toilet. They don't need nerfing. I've never so much as noticed these guys being hard. They have NO health regeneration, so ANY AoE will kill them. Eg 1-of-8 in my party is a MM with Death Nova, which is enough on it's own to kill all the Raptors. If you have a Spiteful Spirit necro, it will be triggered about 16 times from one casting, doing about 600 damage. A Dervish who uses Twin Moon Sweep to end enchantments will bleed / burn them to death. And so on.
You don't even need ANY casters. 8 straight-up swordsmen could do it, all you'd need to do is disrupt the strike chain (the Raptor lead strike has a 10-second recycle). Eg. Open with To the Limit! for some adrenaline then spam Riposte, Auspicious Parry & Deadly Riposte. That's ridiculously solid defence / offence, with 4 slots left for attack skills, 2nd prof etc.
That's some seriously funny stuff. Lolwho 22:59, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

HM farming[edit]

Why are these the target of HM farming for a lot of players? Do they have a special drop or just very high drop rates? Also, is their level still 24 in HM? --Risus 23:39, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

i suppose it's 28 or sth, the level is missing on the article yet. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 16:06, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Paths[edit]

Apparently they don't have set paths they follow and can see the party a radar away.

Was watching a group run around and marked it's path but surprise surprise, when attempting to sneak by them they somehow saw me and changed their path to come running straight at me.

At the moment I think it's fair to say the Dinosaur race in GW are by far way overpowered 2 Ferothrax's can cause a party wipe on their own while a mob is just insane.

If you're in a crowded place with alot of Dino-Mobs running around and 2 or more decide to snack on you, it gets beyond a joke.

monks[edit]

can 55 monks farm these? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:90.219.151.122 (talk).

Due to there damage output, and amount of interrupts, no. Its possible but Perma Sin/Ele is much better. Dominator Matrix 19:43, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

what about if you have mantra of resolve

mantra wouldnt help because they use wild strike --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:68.193.150.222 (talk).

Health[edit]

Does anyone know how much health these beasts have? (Kendil 18:46, 5 May 2009 (UTC))

Damage[edit]

piercing or slashing? :<78.20.153.111 12:15, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

the only dino[edit]

that doesn't have twisting jaws. which is prob the reason they are the only dino i can kill... if the other dinos didn't have twisting jaws prob be a fun area. I wish they would decrease the recharge on can't touch this to make it so it can be kept up. it's not like that skill will see any use other than here anyways... 70.135.126.202 13:53, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

odd I thought they had it, but the nestlings definatly dont... which is why ya leave the raptors alone when you do a nestling farm... MrPaladin talk 14:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
