Talk:Summon Naga Shaman

What? Don't Naga Elementalists use air and water spells? And aren't shaman generally Monks? Aren't Forgotten Arcanist geomancers? -- Gordon Ecker 21:37, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

You under-estimate the power of the Asura. They could summon a Bear that cast Final Thrust, if they felt like it. -- Jioruji Derako.> 06:27, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
I can see three possibilities: there's Naga geomancers on the Tarnished Coast, the Asura got the Naga confused with the Forgotten due to secondhand accounts or the Asura threw Stoning onto the Naga polymock piece to spice things up (like how the imp piece has Monk, Mesmer and Elementalist skills, or how the Gargoyle piece has Warrior, Mesmer and Elementalist skills) and decided to base the summoning skills on the polymock pieces rather than the authentic creatures. -- Gordon Ecker 06:54, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Could also have more to do with the creatures themselves... snakes in general are ground-based creatures... some swim, but last I checked, they couldn't fly, set themselves ablaze, or breathe underwater. Ice Imps obviously cast Ice Spikes, Flame Djinns are another freebie... dunno about Mursaat, but I suppose shooting lightning isn't far-fetched for them, flavor-wise. -- Jioruji Derako.> 07:12, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Well they are floating aeromancers with giant feathers growing out of their back. It still seems odd that they didn't go with a Forgotten for the geomancer. I'm guessing that, behind the scenes, the skill originally summoned a monk, and was changed to summon a geomancer for balance reasons, but I agree with the theory that the four summoning skills are connected to polymock, which has apparently been floating around the forums for a while. -- Gordon Ecker 07:35, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Shamans are probably a new kind of nagas that we will meet in Gwen. There's another reference to them in the Polymock minigame. Chriskang 20:40, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I forgot that there isn't any Naga Shaman mob in Factions. Now I'm pretty sure that there's Naga in the Tarnished Coast region. -- Gordon Ecker 23:35, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Seems to me the theme of Asuran technology approaches the realm of chaos quite a bit. The creatures in their areas have a tendancy to morph, and have chaotic themed powers, like stealing random skills. Yes I daresay a bear with final thrust--hehe--would be their wish if not then a well accustomed to quirky modification on the summoning spell. The Asurans also, it seems to me, take major chaotic events in their lives in real stride. When they were booted out of their underground world, they just plopped down their suitcases and said "Bum deal, well, lets start making golems and directing the new toys (humans and such) to our purposes." There weren't many--if any--that took having to leave their native(?) habitat like it was the end of the world. As if contemplating their losses were counter-productive to their forward thinking intellectual pursuits, like Polymock.--67.168.2.110 12:03, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
