This Quest[edit]

Is ******* impossible to do without an obsidian flesh tank or perma sin on one side, or a good human monk / bonder. We got wiped on the very last group. I can keep one attacking group on my own as a warrior and my whole of heroes and henchmen(MM included) get owned by margonites. The forgotten are useless as they die in four hits in the very first wave, and that mesmer snake gets killed even with shield of absorption, shielding hands and constant heals. And no, I'm not a **** noob, I've been playing this for years and I think I'm pretty good, but I just can not do this ******* quest. It's disgustingly hard, and noone in the world wants to do this with me. Gw is dead at this point. </rage>User MadSkillz1o1 Smail.jpeg MadSkillz1o1 16:02, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Removed profanities

Those quests were created before eotn pve-only skills, in good faith that players would use lightbringer skills. As a thumb of rules anet always balance quests for coordinated people, such as guild grps, able to lightbringer-gaze spike clumps of (non-raging) foes. When they saw that pugs would rarely communicate and sync efforts they came with pve-only skills that would eliminate the need for synergy between players. Obviously, heros and henchmen cant use pve-only skills, and more obviously, you dont have to curse yourself for anet beeing unable to keep players wanting to play the game. Yeah yeah... It felt good to swear a little after all those failed attemps. Got wiped countless times... Anyway, I managed to do this quest later, with a perma sin tanking on one side. Hell of a job... Eh well. User MadSkillz1o1 sig2.PNG MadSkillz1o1 22:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Hero/Henchman Strat[edit]

The way I did this with just Henchman and Heroes is I brought along two Jagged Bomber Necro's and a Barrage Splinter R/Rt Hero (the 3 Forgotten in the middle will consistently keep the minions alive while waiting for the next wave, yay delayed nukes). I set the 3 of them on the NE side at the top of the hill. Using Kihm, Mhenlo, Cynn, and Herta (- Double Mo, Double E - )for Henchman, I stood in the middle just a little ways past Jinyssa and waited. When the SW mob rushed in, I'd move to hit them just outside of Jinyssa's aggro range, I was using the Hundred Blades/Whirlwind Attack combo on my W/Mo and I'd rush the backline casters and effectively nuke them down, then move back into the middle so any magic damage coming in on my Hero's was easily healed. Jinyssa never got touched, and only one of my henchman died, and that was on the last wave when Kihm got focused down. Nahla -

Just did this with 4 human players, spirit spammers, mm, 2 healer, 1 prot, tanks, ele etc. Crappy reward though. Anet really should update all those rewards. Uber easy quests sometimes give more. -- Magamdy 17:45, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
I've been stuck on that quest for about a year, and i just used your team build. Thank you. It worked wonderfully.Siris/talk 03:39, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

In spite of several efforts with varying hero/henchmen makeups, I had a lot of trouble on this quest. In the end, the easiest way to do it was to make a strong, balanced team out of your NPCs (I used Spiritway, Kihm, Mhenlo, Cynn and Herta) and make yourself into a tank (this is basically restating and clarifying comments already made). Your job is to stall as long as you can, so don't worry about damage, just get a skill like Shadow Form or Obsidian Flesh to block the elementalists and some anti-melee and self-heals because you will also be facing waves of mobs that use physical attacks. Position yourself on one side of the Keeper (out of aggro range) and flag your party to the other side (out of aggro range.) When your party has finished their half of the wave, or when you don't think you can stall much longer, flag them to your side and run to the other where you can deal with the next wave that comes your way. Just did this at first try, didn't find it that hard. Had Norgu (Panic nuker), Sousuke (E/Mo searing flames prot monk) and Olias (E/Mo jagged bones minion bomber/prot monk) defend the south path with help from the forgotten, and me (D/E grenth ava + conjure) and the henchies (Kihm, Mhenlo, Cynn and Odurra) handled the north. No casualties (well, apart from some forgotten).
I didn't find it too hard either. I used Sabway[1] for my heroes, and then took Mhenlo, Devona, Cynn and Herta. I'm a ranger, using Prepared Shot. My only PvE skill was Pain Inverter. I flagged all the hench over to the side with the Forgotten Cursebearers, and after the first wave (after the MM had enough bodies), I flagged the SS hero over to that side as well. Without resorting to a spirit-spamming build or SF, I was able to beat the quest fairly easily. Nym 07:31, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Easy[edit]

Easy quest, I did it AFK ¬_¬ my heroes did al the work...--Dragon7 cape emblem.pngThe Holy Dragons 16:05, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

What heroes did you use???207.216.235.240 23:50, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
I don't believe he did it afk, that's close to impossible. Especially since he didn't bother coming back to say how. False gloating is pathetic. --Lustre Of Havoc 05:32, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

I thought this was very easy, but with http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Player_Support , Hard mode is as easy as Normal Mode Sparticuz 17:02, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Two Hero Teams[edit]

After trying this several times in NM, including one time using an Armour of Salvation and Grail of Might, and getting wiped, I decided to rethink my tactics. I had been using a PvXwiki team of 3 necros, 2 mesmers, a ritualist and a paragon. I switched to two similar teams of warrior, monk and elementalist (yes, tank, heal and DPS, the holy trinity) and threw in Xandra as an SOS for good measure. I flagged each group near the Forgotten and supported with minions. It was a little rough at times, but it worked! Even a couple of hero deaths didn't cause a wipe like I'd feared. The twin monks were strong enough to keep the other heroes alive and I could force-heal Jinyssa when it got hairy. Koss and Jora performed like champions!

I also tried being a minion master for the first time since the minion window update, and I have to say it's a hell of a lot more fun and far less trouble to play an MM now. I'm actually loving it! Thanks to ANet for little updates like this that really make a difference in play experience, even after 6 years. 99.246.249.213 21:13, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Whats the Trouble?[edit]

Get another guy with spiritway/discord/sabway/whatever the fuck 3 hero split build, OR flag the split manually - and remember to have the lightbringer title on. I recall doing this quest about 3 years ago, and theres not really been any major skill changes. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 22:33, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Untroubling the Troubled Keeper with Successful Hero/Henchie Build[edit]

I was able to complete The Troubled Keeper with heroes/henchies as follows, with a little luck, attack power, and a lot of interrupts:

Me: Monk/(prof of your choice): Smiting (10+3+1); Protect (10+3); Divine Favor (8+2) Skills: Signet of Judgment (elite); Holy Strike; Lightbringer's Gaze; Protective Spirit; Signet of Devotion; Purge Signet; Remove Hex; Aegis Note: Make sure you click on your Lightbringer title.

Hero N/Mo Minion Master (Master of Whispers or Olias): Death Magic (10+3+1); Soul Reaping (6+2); Protection Prayers (11) Skills: Aura of the Lich (elite); Animate Bone Minions; Death Nova; Putrid Bile; Taste of Pain; Protective Spirit; Aegis; Shield of Absorption. Note: I had trouble with my minion master constantly dying, so that is why all the monk skills here (and they really helped).

Hero Rit/(prof of your choice) Spirit build (Razah): Restoration Magic (12+2); Channeling Magic (11+2); Spawning Power (6+2+1). Skills: Signet of Spirits (elite); Bloodsong; Renewing Surge; Spirit Siphon; Protective was Kaolai; Mend Body and Soul; Spirit Light; Flesh of My Flesh.

Second Hero Rit/(prof of your choice) Spirit variant build (Xandra): Communing (12+2); Spawning Power (12+2+1). Skills: Signet of Ghostly Might; Shadowsong; Pain; Disenchantment; Anguish; Dissonance; Boon of Creation; Flesh of My Flesh.

Hero Warrior/(prof of your choice) (Koss) with as many interrupts as possible: Axe Mastery (12+3); Tactics (12+3). Skills: Dismember; Agonizing Chop; Skull Crack; Disrupting Chop; Balanced Stance; Distracting Blow; Critical Chop; Rez Signet.

Hero Ranger/(alt prof of your choice) (Acolyte Jin) also with many interrupts: Beast Mastery (11+3); Wilderness Survival (10+1); Marksmanship (10+3+1). Skills: Punishing Shot (elite); Distracting Shot; Savage Shot; Winter; Troll Unguent; Disrupting Lunge; Comfort Animal; Charm Animal.

I also took two: Henchies: Kihm and Mhenlo.

I tried many times to solo this quest with heroes and henchies over a 24-hour period (I got maybe 4 hours of sleep), and I got obliterated so many times right away until I used this build. Even with this build, I failed a couple times, because the mobs do not spawn the same every time. A lot of the success of this quest is where you and the Rits are standing. I positioned myself by Keeper Lynssa and didn't move more than a few steps away from her at all times.

I started out by positioning the rits right on the edge of area of affect circle, close to the forgotten keepers that are a little ways down the pathways. They pretty much fought the first and second wave of mobs on the opposite sides (with me and Keeper Lynssa in the middle of the room). If the kills on one side got done before the other side, I would have the idle rit go help the remaining mobs on the other side. As soon as there was a break before the next wave, I made sure the Rits were back in their beginning positions. Whenever a few of Abbadon's servants managed to get past the Rits and came at me and Keeper Lynssa, I would concentrate only on defending her and smiting the enemy that was attacking the keeper and me. I also pinged my attack of those that were attacking me so that my heroes would come help me. If you can do so without losing track of Lynssa's health, try to direct heroes/henchies to the enemy warlocks and seers, as they degenerate yours and Lynssa's health really, really fast. The bowmasters are also a must to kill fast, but remember, Lynssa is ALWAYS your main focus for her survival.

I also had everyone in fight mode except the minion master (I put him on guard).

I am not the most experienced character skill builder, so I'm sure as some of you read this, you will know better how to tweak it to make it better. I'm just glad it worked for me, and I think I'll make it my standard exploring fighting build!
