Salvaging a tormented item[edit]
I think the Note on salvaging needs a better explanation. Can someone actually describe what happens if you try to salvage it? I'm not rich or stupid enough to try myself. Guru post --Moeilijk 13:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- You can't salvage it Tomoko 14:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
It pretty much says you can't salvage it for crafting materials...but you can salvage it for mods. 72.94.140.236 03:54, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- And when you try to salvage it for mods, it can break (unless you use a perfect kit of course)--Lensor (talk) 16:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Awesome skin![edit]
This is the best shield ever, only thing worth a armbrace in my opinion, gonna buy an armbrace soon, stil trying to decide which stat to get this shield with --C4K3 16:44, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- It is nice, but a bit overused -- at least in the GvG you see in observer mode. I swear, sometimes it feels like, *yawn* oh look, another squishie just pulled out a volatiac spear / tormented shield defense set. I'd probably use it if it fit one of my characters, though, but then, for many many reasons, I don't GvG myself :D. --Star Weaver 17:39, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well you must admit it does look good with Voltaic Spears -- C4K3 09:29, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Not really. At least, not when the VS is dyed black. The mismatched animations really just look kind've dumb. xP Bathory talk 13:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah. I saw someone in OBSyland the other day that had a colored VS, blue maybe, with a shield that went, that looked so much better. And I saw plenty of people to whom I wanted to say "BLACK DYE DOSEN'T PROVE ANYTHING!" :P --Star Weaver 16:44, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well black dyed VS is kinda ugly, mine is red -- which i think looks best C4K3 Talk 12:25, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- I bought a black VS. I dyed it white cause it fits my armour. I hate this "you have to dye everything black" rule. Tiberium 18:13, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- there isn't a "you have to dye everything black rule" it's just that some people legitimately like things dyed black.--173.59.59.80 22:29, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Its fugly and it hasnt got a handel
Animation Bug Question[edit]
Apparently after 5 hours logged in, the animation of the shield will stop. It's not clear, however, who will see this bug in effect. As far as I can guess, it seems like a client-side bug, and all people who are logged for over 5 hours will see the animations stop, correct? For example, if I am logged for over 5 hours I will see my Tormented Shield animation frozen, but a friend who just logged in, will still see my shield animate? --Sensei 15:05, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- This is a well known animation issue with all the tormented weapons. -- Wyn talk 15:17, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- That wasn't an answer to his question :P. I would like to know this answer as well. Power WM 01:51, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- I wouldn't claim to be an expert, but I do believe it's a client-side bug, with this and Storm Bows and other extravagant animations. So yes. I don't see why it would work any other way. --70.158.147.185 18:23, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- Isnt it actually 8 hours the animation starts to stop. I always the the 8 hour message and things cease.--Nataliexxx 00:10, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's 5 hours, and it doesn't only affect the animation on the weapons, but other animations as well. I first noticed this when the fire in Gunnar's Hold stopped moving. So it's a GW global bug. 193.215.199.34 12:50, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's been a while since this topic has been active, but I feel it wasn't appropriately answered. Tested with two accounts running, after 5-6 hours all animations (from your own point of view) will cease. Other people that haven't reached this amount of time will see the animation running as normal. EtariP sdrawkcaB ehT 04:55, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Why strength?[edit]
Why do people buy strength tormented shields for casters, instead of an attribute they might be able to run, like Command? - Xerxez 20:27, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- So they can sell it on to wars? --smøni 20:28, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- but if you place it in HoM you cant sell it anny way, so if you are a caster and you will place it in HoM take a command or something84.192.125.45 00:42, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Probably because when you don't match a shields attribute, you still get half the armor (8 in this case), and speccing an attribute for the full armor takes too many attribute points anyway 81.59.142.45 20:10, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- A monk'd buy tactics shield, tbh. For the rest, doesn't really matter (lolcommand). Thanks! NuVII 20:13, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- But monks don't spec 9 tactics, that is why they by Q8/16A or Q7/15A shields. 83.250.89.1 20:20, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- Brave monks spec 11 tactics. Thanks! NuVII 21:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

- If people already have one torm shield in HoM, a second one would alternate between chars (and not be dedicated). Wars can use str shields, and it doesn't matter for other characters (except for HA eles, who can use Command). — Raine Valen 17:14, 30 Nov 2010 (UTC)
NuVII, a command shield would make more sense than a tactics shield, because these only come in req 9 and monks almost never go over 8 tactics, while monks with 9 or more command are very common in JQ. -- Kirbman 22:36, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

fortitude[edit]
Can you change the mod so it is say, enchanting?
- that was me by the way Joe the pirate 04:14, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- You can change the mod, but you can't put Enchanting on a shield. — Raine Valen 14:26, 24 Feb 2011 (UTC)
- I think he means a shield handle of enchanting (instead of the +30 fort that comes with it)--Dar Drakor 15:40, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- There is no shield mod of enchanting, but you can change the mod of fortitude to say, devotion. Vald [Citation Needed] 16:32, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
