Talk:Vanguard Bounty: Blazefiend Griefblade

I found Blazefiend Griefblade near the furthest double charr grp in the NE of the Northlands (between the 2 bridge grps on the map), also just to the left of the rightmost bridge, and also just to the left of the boss shrine taking the center rte by the water. Also note Blazefiend was lvl 18 not 17. (my character was lvl 18 and 60% at the time of finding the boss Blazefiend Griefblade) Locations found of Blazefiend Griefblade http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/803/gw389.jpg Confirmation Shot of Blazefiend Griefblade being up to lvl 18 http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/1999/gw390.jpg

I've entered alone with a level 17 character and the boss was level 18. Quest mobs were level 15. --Adul 19:35, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Found near the Charr Fire Stand[edit]

When I entered earlier I found Blazefiend Griefblade with 1 Charr Ranger 1 Warrior and 1 Elementalist on the left hand side of the Charr Fire Stand, Near the other Bosses. T1Cybernetic User T1Cybernetic Glob of Ectoplasm.png 20:12, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Found him to the north west of the Charr Boss Shrine, right in the "The" on the map. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 21:09, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

I vanquished the whole area (See here) and I didn't find him. I only found some level 11 Charrs here and there. The quest is active (Without the quest there won't be level 11 Charrs). Is this a bug? Or maybe there is an area of the map I never found before? Kayahr 21:34, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Your map looks well-explored. And you seem to have hit every area that people have mention finding him. Are you sure you didn't just remove him without noticing? He's not nearly as tough as Utini (i.e. doesn't come with 2-3 healers of backup). Or is there any chance you took him down to 1 hp and he moved off? In nm/pre, there's no way to be certain you've ethnically cleansed the neighborhood of enemies.
The quest wasn't finished, so I could't have killed him by accident. Now on second try I found him and he was together with four level 11 Charrs. I would have noticed such a large group. In my first run I always only found groups of two level 11 Charrs. Well, strange. Maybe there is a spawn point outside of the accessible area. Kayahr 21:59, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
That sounds compelling to me. I hope that you file an official report; if it is a bug (or a spawning issue), they probably have some time dedicated to resolve it in the next week or so.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:13, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
If neither of those explanations apply, then file a bug report. Given the circumstances, I would recommend contacting support directly (email or report ticket), so that you can privately give them your in-game name and the date/time of day you were playing (you can also attach the map). Let us know what you discover...or if you can replicate the issue so other players can help troubleshoot.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:55, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Has a bug been filed? I just went through the entire zone. I didn't get a single XP, so as far as I can tell, nothing from the quest actually spawned. I do have a screenshot showing the map explored and the quest log active if required. I used my storage account to gate monkey me in (lvl 1) and I am currently lvl 18. I did not zone my gate monkey until after I was in the zone. I will be abandoning this quest since you can only have one active, I don't want to waste my time trying this over and over. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.10.188.242 (talk • contribs) at 16:26, 12 March 2011 (UTC).
The most recent update changed the requirements for spawning: no vanguard foes if anyone in the party is <L10. So, as long as your perma-pre on the alt account is low level, you need to map him/her out before your main account's LDoA candidate zones. Annoying, but they wanted to nerf some of the exploitation that was going on before (using higher level toons to spawn more XP-rich foes, power leveling new toons using the quests, ...)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:48, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Requirements?[edit]

The one about the Ascalon Academy mission being neither active nor completed should just say not active. If it's been completed, you're in Post and can't do the quest anyway. Just seems very redundant. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 21:44, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. Why not change it here (and in the other articles)?  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:55, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I would've been bold and done it but I don't know how to change it. Thanks to whoever does! Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 22:35, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure what "active" means either. It doesn't mean "You can take it (crossed swords and shield over Tydus' head) as that's where I am in pre, and I can do these quests. And if it means "started", well, duh.Cassie 22:39, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
It means you don´t have it in your quest log, which means not started. If you started it you´re inside of the academy but still in pre so you can´t reach the quest even though you´re in pre and level 10+ and don´t have any vanguard quest active either. [[80.137.58.160 17:47, 8 March 2011 (UTC)]]

Lvl 10 boss, not 11?[edit]

When I was running this quest the first time, at level 13, the boss was most certainly Level 10 with level 8 foes around him; not 11. I can't reconfirm this, as killing him brought me to level 14. Possible bug, or is the information wrong? 74.210.50.20 22:26, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Huh. Appears to have changed, or have never been written as 10. Can ignore this now ^^ 74.210.50.20 22:35, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I just fought him at level 11 (but I was level 10 when I entered the map). He was level 10.Cassie 22:40, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Naming Bug[edit]

At the Easternmost area, next to the Great Wall, I encountered a Charr Firecaller whose health bar displayed Lvl 2 Warthog by mistake. The Firecaller still used the same skills as the others, and judging by the length of time he survived, possessed the same health as well. The name below his figure when viewed while holding the Ctrl key was Warthog as well. I was wondering if this has happened upon other occasions to anyone else. I took a screenshot of this bug if proof is required.

That's a common bug you can encounter in any area with Charmable Animals. Remiel 18:15, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Bags & Kits[edit]

Does Blazefiend Griefblade drop Charr Bags and/or Charr Salvage Kits, since he's a boss? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.178.248.118 (talk • contribs) at 19:42, 12 September 2011 (UTC).

Nope. As a vanguard foe, he drops nothing at all. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:55, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
