Campaign Prophecies
Region Ascalon (pre-Searing)
Type Cooperative
Party size 4
Duration Short
Preceded by Ascalon Academy (PvP battle)
Followed by The Krytan Ambassador

The Ascalon Academy is the central training institution of the Ascalon Army. Its main building has two distinct clock towers. Access is gained by talking to Sir Tydus and fulfilling the requirements. This mission takes place immediately after a Player vs Player battle. If there are no other players entering the Ascalon Academy, then you will skip the PvP battle completely, and be treated as if you lost (but you will still be able to do the mission).

After competing in the battle, players are taken to this instance where they must accompany Prince Rurik to defeat the Charr agent Vatlaaw Doomtooth.

Mission information[edit]

Requirements[edit]

Objectives[edit]

  • Listen to the briefing given by Sir Tydus and Prince Rurik.
  • ADDED: Journey to the old bunker with Prince Rurik and defeat Vatlaaw Doomtooth and his minions.

Walkthrough[edit]

Follow Prince Rurik into the cave and kill the Grawl and Vatlaaw Doomtooth. Prince Rurik is strong enough to easily defeat all enemies on his own. As such, if your party includes henchmen, consider placing a Hero flag to leave the henchmen at the starting point, since this will allow you to keep all experience and loot from the enemies.

Completing this mission will trigger the Searing and take you to post-Searing Ascalon.

Dialogues[edit]

Briefing for those who won in PvP
Sir Tydus:I meant to find you before the skirmish, but I can see you did not suffer for my absence. You fought well.
Prince Rurik:I must agree with Sir Tydus. When I watched you fight, I knew I was witnessing the future pride of Ascalon.
Sir Tydus:"I have been keeping the Prince informed of your deeds. After seeing your courage for himself, I believe he is convinced."
Prince Rurik:"I am. I have come to induct you into Ascalon's Vanguard. We are the elite protectors who guard our nation when threatened from within or without."
Prince Rurik:"As part of the Vanguard, you are needed for a critical mission before we can begin our offensive against the Charr."
Sir Tydus:"Our sentries spotted Vatlaaw Doomtooth and his warband in the old bunker out behind the Citadel. He must have found a passage that led here from the Catacombs. Whatever his purpose, it can be no good."
Sir Tydus:"As soon as you are ready, the prince himself will accompany you to cast this Charr fiend out of our land."
Briefing for those who lost in PvP (or did not participate in a PvP match)
Sir Tydus:"I am sorry I could not join you before the skirmish. I was delayed by official business"
Prince Rurik:"He was delayed by me. I wanted us to watch the battle together."
Prince Rurik:"Sir Tydus did not exaggerate when he spoke of you. You've shown great promise today."
Sir Tydus:"I have been keeping the prince informed of your deeds. After seeing your courage for himself, I believe he is convinced."

In the cave
Prince Rurik:"Your time has come to an end!"
Upon meeting Vatlaaw
Prince Rurik:"There's the cause of all this trouble."
Prince Rurik:"There's the cause of all this trouble." [sic]
Prince Rurik:"Vatlaaw Doomtooth! Your days of harrying the citizens of Ascalon are over!"
Prince Rurik:"Vatlaaw Doomtooth! Your days of harrying the citizens of Ascalon are over!" [sic]
Prince Rurik:"My name is Prince Rurik, and I shall be your nemesis!"
Prince Rurik:"Foul nightmares of Grenth, be gone!"

Notes[edit]

  • Mechanically, this area is an explorable area, however it acts the same as a mission.
  • While waiting for the mission to start, your character will be teleported away from any portal you approach.
  • During the briefing, you cannot pass the Ascalonian Guards at the top of the stairs; they will body block you.
  • Once this mission has started, your character will no longer be able to return to pre-Searing Ascalon; if you resign or logout/login, you will restart the mission. Likewise, you cannot fail the mission.
  • While this is still a pre-searing area, the level 4 grawl warriors here are the post-searing version.
Bug Bug.Should Prince Rurik die, the mission will not fail; instead a resurrection notice with a countdown of 3 seconds pops up, with no end effect.
