Nerfed? O.o Compare this to an Ele spell that causes Exhaustion, and then realise how much energy Eles get as well. 86.25.18.22 00:15, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Just add the channeling line to Izzy's underpowered skills list.

Comparison with Obsidian Flame[edit]

With 5e 1c 5r and Exhaustion it's similar to Obsidian Flame, but it has a faster cast. On the down side it does less damage even if you meet the condition(!) and doesn't ignore armour either, so it's been junked. A better idea to kill the spiky nature might have been to drop the damage and recast time together to keep the overall damage over time similar. That way it's less spiky and it costs more over time too, without the need for exhaustion. What's the point of a 5s recast if the spell causes exhaustion on a class with a modest energy pool? Indeed. I see nobody using this skill, even with 5 energy only. Exhaustion is extremely limiting and unpopular for good reason. Elementalists can do similar things much better, the numbers of Ritualists got reduced dramatically with the latest update, and even the 10->5 "buff" cannot change that. --Longasc 12:11, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

No Exhaustion[edit]

Its nice that they took exhaustion back out. StatMan 05:32, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Exhaustion was removed a long time ago, shortly after it was added. It used to be more powerful back when it dealt 15...51...60 and +15...51...60 damage. --Boogy User Boogy Sig.jpg (Talk/Contributions) 10:09, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I know. I don't think it lasted more than a week or two. Exhaustion doesn't belong with rits. Glad they found the right Nerf. StatMan 05:34, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

WTB: Decreased casting time[edit]

I'd like this skill a lot more if it had 1/4 or even 3/4 casting time; that way you could throw it in for miscellaneous ranged damage on melee character builds that have Weapon Spells. As it is now, stopping for 1 second + aftercast terribly screws your ability to catch kiting foes. Not that warrior-casters are that common... but still. ~ Da Si 00:45, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Well...this functions with other weapon spells besides Channeling ones. You should look in to running Channeling/Communing or Channeling/Restoration and using something like Weapon of Quickening or Resilient Weapon. Using this on a Ritualist primary or secondary that's supposed to be frontlining (Spirit's Strength, for example) is kind've counter productive for the reason you said.
