Delete tag[edit]

I removed the delete tag. I use this variant exclusively, as it's easier to fill in vs {{unsigned}}. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:01, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

How do you get the date then? (I'm always struggling with that.) And this template is only good for people on PST-time?-- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 00:16, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
The format is {{Subst:Unsigned2|Date|Username}}. What I prefer about this format is that it is in the same sequence as the history tab - so you can copy the date/time and username from the history tab, insert a pipe |, and adjust the time.
The PST is an error in the template, and is left-over from the earlier days of this wiki. At that time, all posts on talk pages were in PST. The template wasn't corrected to use UTC when the server time was adjusted - so there may be some erroneous stamps from use of this template. I'll correct the template now. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 04:04, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Doesn't the history make it the UTC time and date anyway? If not already, why not just make it so that it puts the time exactly however someone puts it in, and leave it to the person using it to make sure they use the UTC from the history page? 69.182.165.163 02:58, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
The history's times (as well as every other special page like recent changes and your watchlist) uses the timezone settings in a user's preferences. So I for example have set my time to UTC+2, so whenever I use an unsigned template, I have to substract two hours to make it displayed correctly. Sadly there is no way to identify which timezone a user has set to substract the difference automatically. poke | talk 14:18, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Comment[edit]

Does this template need that comment: <!--Inserted with Template:Unsigned2--> to be added to each page this template is used on? Template:Unsigned doesn't include anything like this and this comment adds an extra 39 characters, not much but it does add up on high traffic talk pages like Account Help, Game Help and Wiki Help pages. --Kakarot Talk 02:16, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

{{unsigned+}}[edit]

Makes this kinda redundant don't you think? - J.P.ContributionsTalk 20:34, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

A lot people use the unsigned templates without substing them, so even redirecting this to the new one (so people can use the old name as well) will be difficult. And unsigned+ doesn't work without substing at all. poke | talk 20:45, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
What substituation actually does? As you might know, english isn't my main language :P - J.P.ContributionsTalk 20:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
When you subst a template, the content of the template is replaced by the call itself. So in the code of the page there is no {{sometemplate}} but instead the content of that template. poke | talk 21:00, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok, got it ^^ Thanks for the lesson Master. - J.P.ContributionsTalk 21:05, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
