The Lonewolf Challenge[edit]

My first LDoA Lonewolf in post

The Lonewolf challenge, which is an Ironman variant, is the game-style of playing as if you're the only player in existence. This means:

  • New empty account.
  • No partying with other players.
  • No trading with other players.
  • No traders of any kind.

Since these limitations would only slightly slow down the inevitable race for meta heroes which would rip through the game, I've added these:

  • No heroes and no henchmen.
  • No /bonus items, which means no imp.

These two make the game-play very dependent on the chosen profession, and slow down the initial effort to get max weapons and level. No bonus items also goes well with the fact that I'm getting LDoA on all my prophecies lonewolves.

All of this means that:

  • Storage / resource sharing between lonewolves is allowed (although I avoid that for non-proph toons).
  • No campaigns order is enforced (so max armor is available from Kaineng City or Boreal Station once a toon gets to LA).
  • Consumables are allowed! They're just harder to get/craft with no trading/traders.
  • Merchants, crafters and collectors are all allowed.
  • Special events become important opportunities to get things otherwise unavailable or hard to get (like dp-removing cons).

I haven't decided about unlocked skills, so haven't used them so far. Might consider in the future.

This came out pretty similar to Peter's derv challenge, which you should check if you liked the idea.

I currently have a W20 in the crystal desert (and around Kama, Kaineng and EoTN), N20, Me20, and E20 on their way to LA, and Mo~17 and R~12 still questing for LDoA in Pre Searing.
