About[edit]

I admit, I love to analyze things. Break them down to their core pieces to see how they work. And with Guild Wars there is oh so very much information and nuance to go through! This is my record of the things I've done. Bellow you'll find my collections of builds, challenges, and notes of what I've found about the game. Enjoy!

Favorite Builds[edit]

Guild Wars is amazingly diverse. There are so many ways to handle the simple job of defeating foes. That being said, most of us find a build we like for the team and stick with it. Sometimes it's just the most powerful build we have, something that's gotten us through the roughest map of the game, the biggest challenge.

The following is a collection of my most common builds to run with. Originally they were designed as a full hero/hench/merc team for myself to be antisocial, but later I started making them modular to fit into teams better.

Challenges[edit]

I've been playing Guild Wars for a few years now, and while the game is amazing I always like to take things a step beyond. So instead of *just* finishing the game I add little challenges into the mix. In the spirit of Barney Stinson I'll be playing the game, get hit with a "what if..." situation and next thing you know, "challenge accepted"!

Here's a list of some of the challenges I've either completed or am still fighting through. None of the builds are uber pwnage, but they are usable enough to at least get through most (if not all) of PvE normal mode.

Collect all professions[edit]

SUMMARY: Altoholic paradise. Play the game raising 10 different toons (one from each profession) to the level cap and beating the games.

STATUS: Challenge Complete

(after the challenge was completed I deleted my monk to make room for a dedicated PvP / mercenary creation slot.)

Collect all pets[edit]

SUMMARY: Pretty much the title tells you everything. Charm every possible pet and train them up to unlock all evolutions. THANK YOU ZEISHEN MENAGERIE!!!!! Included all elite pets such as the black moa, rainbow pheonix, black widow, and moss spider.

STATUS: Challenge Complete

(ok, so after I originally completed this (even with the rainbow pheonix, the black widow, and the moss spider the Winds of Change content came out with a panda pet.)

Collect all heroes on one toon[edit]

SUMMARY: Again, pretty self explanitory. Was able to get Razah *very* easily by using gaze of fury to kill the spirits without having to fight them.

STATUS: Challenge Complete

(AGAIN after I grab everyone to complete the challenge the Guild Wars: Beyond contect adds more. Currently missing Thakeray from Hearts of the North, and both Miku and that ritualist from Winds of Change)

Build Challenge: all 3 roles (aka, the 30 build)[edit]

SUMMARY: Design a set of builds that allows each profession to play damage, support, or utility roles. 10 profession * 3 styles = 30 builds.

STATUS: Challenge Completed

Build Challenge: universal team builds[edit]

SUMMARY: Inspired by the 30-build library from above. Instead of needing a specific hero profession to fill in the gaps on your team, this build library was designed to work with ANY hero you have (well... not including the warrior.... not strong enough energy management).

STATUS: Challenge Completed

Build Challenge: full party same profession[edit]

SUMMARY: Forget having a balanced or diverse team. Pick a profession, any profession, and only use that one for the entire team. More elaborate rules are on this challenge's page.

note: since there are only a few heroes of each type using the mercenary pack IS required for this.

STATUS: in progress
