You May be a Brooks Fan[edit]

But are you a Tolkien fan and do you know some of your Sindarin? — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 02:51, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello! It is true, I am a Brooks fan (in fact, I've read everything he's ever written, even the non-fiction). I keep his entire series of books on a shelf right next to my desk.

It is an interesting fact that Terry Brooks was inspired to write novels by John Tolkien, and that he first read 'The Fellowship of the Ring' when he (Brooks) was a college freshman. I, on the other hand, was inspired to author novels by Brooks himself, effectively cutting out the middle man. I read 'The Hobbit' and 'The Fellowship' before I began to dabble in Brooks' literature. I was, however, only a small child when I first picked up John Tolkien's series for the first time, thus I didn't continue to peruse 'The Lord of the Rings' after the first part (Fellowship).

More recently, however, I have been inspired to reach for a Tolkien-esque history of my own fantasy realm, which is yet to be publihed (almost...there...). I will always have a great love for Terry Brooks, but J. R. R is beginning to have more of an effect on me now. I've been writing history to go with my world, rather than one lone venture.

Thank you for posting, and for dropping me a line! Please feel free to post here as often as you like!

I've always loved Tolkien. I havn't read any Brooks, but my "to Read" list is a long one. XD Ara is Sindarin for high, noble or royal. Tolkien created a good number of full and complete languages, and an even greater number of partial ones. If you want to dive further into Sindarin, have a look here for some words and word parts. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 03:39, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Aha! I am reminded! Indeed, I have a copy of the Silmarilion, and I do recall stumbling across 'Ara' while paging through one of the glossaries in the back. Well, I suppose 'high, noble, and/or royal' would fit most of my characters' backgrounds. Thank you for reminding me of that! Also, I completely sympathize with your love for John Tolkien; I have recently been exposed to his literary talent, thus I can completely understand your respect for his work. Read on! You![edit]

The ability to construct detailed and colorful boxes will come with time, don't worry so much about that. "yes, that's a racial comment, sue me" It's only a racial comment if you intend it to be. "One may gain an understanding on this page and the person designing it by READING it." I read walls of text, given the time. Don't be afraid of writing a book or two, as often times, the people that actually read them are the people you want to read them. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 03:43, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, as coincidence would have it, I'm almost done with writing a book. A BOOK book. Funny, eh? Good people read good things; bad people don't read at all. - Ara
This is true, more so than one would think. Then again, there are also people that read for the wrong reasons and looking for the wrong things. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 04:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I know what you mean. Comes to mind those people who read for the purpose of misinterpreting you and insulting you later. I typically ignore them.  : ) - Ara
Yup, and also the people who read a books just for the action or something along those lines. Kind of like the people that watch movies just for the action, violence, blood gore and special effects. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 20:51, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

(Reset Indent) Heh. Yeah, I prefer watching movies/shows for the characters/plotlines/stories they hold. Queue: Bladerunner, Southland Tales, Donnie Darko, etc. Fun to watch, and not because they were filled to the brim with blood and violence (though I admit to enjoying some of that every now and again). - Ara

Assassins and Deadly Arts[edit]

Hello! I happened upon your userpage when I was reading discussion on Varajar Fells, and saw you have a Deadly Arts assassin. Would you mind sharing the build you use? I'd like to find a good Deadly Arts build for my assassin's Ebon Vanguard armor, and I don't really see many builds that focus on Deadly Arts these days. Stel 22:55, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my page! I'd love to share my builds with you, but unfortunately I lost all my builds recently when I moved my OS over to Vista from XP. However, if you find me in-game and drop me a line, I can help you put a good build together. - Ara~ A R A ~ 23:32, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
